10 Awesome Things You Didn’t Know You Could Do In Neo: The World Ends With You

Neo: The World Ends With You was released at the end of July and many fans of the series have been putting in the hours. The game follows Rindo and Fret, two boys that go to the Underground and become players in the Reapers' Game. They meet reapers, other teams, and even characters like Minamimoto and Nagi, who join their group as they complete daily missions while fighting against the Noise.

Like the first game, there are a lot of awesome things to do in this installment that many players aren't aware of, whether it be a really cool pin that can be used to help defeat Noise or a gameplay mechanic that helps progress the plot. Here are just some of the great things you can do in the game.

10 Attack Noise With Boomerangs

There are 333 pins to collect in the game, each of them with their own ability that players can use to fight the Noise. These pins can be useful in either attacking them or increasing players' chances of winning.

One way to attack the Noise is with a boomerang, which can be used through pins like Righteous Rabbit and Brooding Bunny. By using the Righteous Rabbit pin, players can shoot three boomerangs at an enemy and knock them back, while Brooding Bunny will attack them with five.

9 Hold Noise Down With Chains

Another weapon that players can fight with by equipping specific pins is a chain. This weapon will hold the Noise down, allowing players to attack them when they're vulnerable and can't move.

The pins that can be used to do this are; the ShoGun Void, which will send out one chain, the EnJo Blaze, which can attack them with two of them that burn, and the InaZuma Surge, which creates a small area to keep the Noise in while shocking them.

8 Fight Other Teams

At the beginning of the game, the only enemies that players can fight against are the Noise. However, after a few hours into Neo: The World Ends With You, it is revealed that players can fight against other teams, some of which had already befriended the protagonists of the game.

These teams are the Variabeauties, the Purehearts, the Deep Rivers Society, and the Ruinbringers. These fights can be quite challenging and are especially fun to fight when defeating the Noise feels too repetitive.

7 Shoot Enemies With Explosive Arrows And Lasers

Though boomerangs and chains can be fun to attack with, there are other weapons that aren't as common to fight the Noise and other teams with. Some of these awesome weapons are explosive arrows and lasers.

Stellar Self-Portrait shoots eight arrows at enemies and knocks them back, while Classic Cacophany shoots twelve. Petals of Love and Top o' Topo are lasers that burn and shock any given enemy.

6 Control The Elements

There are ways to fight enemies in Neo: The World Ends With You that are even more magical than created weapons. Thunder and Lightning, as the name suggests, is a pin that attacks enemies with lightning and shocks them.

Caught in the Undertow is a similar pin that can knock enemies down by drowning them in water that shoots down from the sky. Firestorm causes the enemies to burn due to a fire that follows them wherever they go. With pins like these, players can feel like they're controlling a mage or a wizard while attacking their opponents.

5 Use A Pin To Heal In The Middle Of A Battle

In many RPGs, including other games developed by Square Enix, players can heal their characters in the middle of a battle.

Neo: The World Ends With You is quite different as they can only do this with a specific pin, which will take the place of one of the pins that are used to attack enemies when equipped. This pin is called Tigre PUNKS and can only be once, so players should only use it when they absolutely need to.

4 Fight Enemies Without Any Weapons

One other unique way to attack enemies is to do so without using any weapons. Instead of fighting with boomerangs, lasers, or even magic, players can have their characters attack by punching and kicking them.

Grin Reaper and Jungle King are pins that allow players to quickly and repetitively punch enemies before knocking them back. As for kicking enemies, Angelic Kick is powerful enough to knock them all the way to the other side of the arena while Soul Ablaze will send them high in the air.

3 Go Back In Time

Besides the powers that players can use in battle through the pins they have equipped, Rindo and his friends each have their own abilities that are important for the game's story. Rindo's ability is to go back in time, and players will have to use it multiple times as they progress through the plot whenever the protagonists make a mistake and need to fix it.

Without this ability, Rindo's adventure, as well as the fate of him and the other characters, would be completely different. Going back in time can feel quite repetitive at times, but it's also a lot of fun and one of the most interesting gameplay mechanics the title has to offer.

2 Make People Think Of Things

Fret and Nagi have unique abilities that are used throughout the story, both of which impact people's minds in different ways. Fret will try to get people to remember things while Nagi will fight the Noise that makes people have negative thoughts, giving them a more positive outlook on the situations they're in once players win the battle.

These powers are more fun to use than Rindo's since players have to face a challenge in order to get them to work, but they impact the story just as much.

1 Learn About Shibuya

One of the coolest things about The World Ends With You games is that, unlike other Square Enix titles such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, they take place in the real world. Specifically, the setting of both installments is Shibuya.

Though the series' version isn't entirely accurate to the actual location, fans will certainly learn about the area, as long as they pay attention to their environment alongside some parts of the story where Rindo and his friends explore Shibuya. It's a great way for people to learn more about the iconic area, providing players with tons of amazing things to see and do.
