The New Suicide Squad Movie is the Perfect Outline for Kill The Justice League DLC

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is still quite some time away, but fans can whet their appetite with the new James Gunn movie. In the former, the titular team is dispatched to Metropolis to defeat (presumably) a variety of Justice League characters under control of Braniac. The Alpha target and likely main boss will be Superman. In the movie, the team goes to Corto Maltese to destroy Project Starfish, where many deaths, twists, and shenanigans occur. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of this article, there will be MINOR SPOILERS ahead for the new Suicide Squad movie.

Looking at what the new movie has to offer bodes well for the upcoming Rocksteady Studios game. While many characters are shared, including Harley Quinn, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang (briefly), some would do well as DLC for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. It's unknown right now if the game would even feature DLC characters, but it certainly has that potential.

Perhaps the best part of these characters is how they could related to their movie version, their comics version, and/or a new version in Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. The way each medium could change each character is also a noteworthy feature, and at the end of the day, it's not likely possible for the game to use the exact likeness of the character. Combining these with its own twists for gameplay and such is practically inevitable, and s such, the following are based on a combination of this all.

In The Suicide Squad movie, Bloodsport plays a very similar role to Deadshot. Both are elite killing machines, both are pulled into the Suicide Squad in similar ways, and both can make a weapon out of anything. However, that doesn't mean Bloodsport would have to operate the same as Deadshot in Kill The Justice League. Whereas Deadshot will likely play as a stealthy assassin with a strong affinity for snipers, even if he can use smaller arms just as well. Bloodsport, in the comics, can use technology to have weapons teleport to him. This is manifested in the new movie by having him build weapons out of a multitude of parts, but in the game, having weapons magically appear in his hand would be easy to manifest. As such, Deadshot could be the sniper; Bloodsport could be the soldier.

Of course, looking at the other characters in the game, there's room for more than one soldier. King Shark seems like he'll be good in melee, with Harley Quinn walking the line between melee and standard firearms. Captain Boomerang may fill a slightly more off-center, ranged and explosive specialist, and that leaves room for Peacemaker. While he wouldn't be played by John Cena in all likelihood, Peacemaker has had a few comic iterations worth working from. His mental illness has him believing he can talk to the souls of those he killed in his helmet, so while this did not manifest in John Cena's iteration, it would be interesting to play him and receive advice and such from the voices in his helmet. At the same time, despite his murderous tendencies, he does have a lot of non-lethal options, so it would be interesting if a nonlethal vs lethal gameplay mechanic was possible for him.

In essence, Polka-Dot Man is a gag villain, but that's truly where Suicide Squad shines. It needs to lean into its absurdity, or what makes the squad unique from others is lost. They're not just villains; they're brutal and out there. Polka-Dot Man's abilities weren't really the highlight of the movie, but in the comics, they were quite varied. As such, leaning into this aspect could create a fun, absurd, out there character. For example, Polka-Dot Man would use his dots to create flying Buzzsaws, a saucer he himself could fly on, a blinding sun flash, fists, and black holes. He's out there, but that's why it works.

Perhaps more so than comic iterations of Ratcatcher, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League would do well to lean into the movie's versions. Ratcatcher-2, in a game, could do a lot more with rats as weapons than the movie could, but there would unique elements that would make for interesting gameplay. For example, she is shown to sleep rather heavily, and if the game made it to where the rats would still defend her or follow orders when this happened, it could create scenarios where players left her body and played as a swarm of rats. This itself lend itself to stealth and other fun antics, as she fled from a Brainiac-controlled Justice League member.

For those who watched the movie, Javelin may seem like an odd choice. However, perhaps more so than just his character, he is important for who he compliments. Javelin appears in Green Lantern's Rogues gallery, and the Green Lantern hasn't gotten a lot of love lately. It's possible he appears in this game, though, and he should. Javelin, in contrast, could have unique dialogue with Green Lantern to help the character stand out, serving as a foil of sorts. Assuming The Flash appears in the game, Captain Boomerang assumes a similar role as part of his rogues gallery. Harley Quinn could associate with a potential Batman (or Batman replacement, after the Arkham games), while King Shark would be the same to Aquaman. With all of this in mind, Javelin facing down Green Lantern would be a good comic throwback.
