Respawn Entertainment’s director of communications Ryan Rigney revealed in a recent Reddit AMA that PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Apex Legends are still in the works, and that the developer is also hard at work on implementing cross-progression.
While the developer hasn’t revealed any specifics on the kind of resolution bump fans can expect, the post does shed some light on the framerate front. Respawn aims to reach 120 fps with its next-gen upgrades, and it’d be interesting to see the tradeoffs required to reach that target. Rigney also mentioned that implementing cross-progression is a daunting task, which isn’t surprising given Nintendo and Sony’s stringent policies on such matters.
Apex Legends received a new stealth-based Legend, Seer in its latest update. Respawn is currently working on Apex Legends, but a recent earnings call from EA does suggest that the studio might also be in the early stages of development for the next entry in the Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order franchise.
