eFootball 2022 hit with worst delay yet – next update not out till spring

The next major update for eFootball 2022 won’t release until spring, prompting Konami to refund people who actually spent money on it.

Good news for eFootball 2022 players (assuming there are any left). After having to delay its version 0.9.1 update past October, Konami has started to release it today, with it set to arrive sequentially on each platform and fix numerous bugs.

The bad news is that the version 1.0 update, which was meant to release in less than a weeks’ time on November 11, is now postponed until spring 2022. This means you’re left waiting for at least another four months assuming Konami can get it out by March at the earliest. Given its track record so far, it’s difficult to be optimistic.

As such, Konami has also decided to refund anyone who has actually spent money on eFootball 2022. While the game is completely free-to-play, you could purchase an eFootball 2022 Premium Player Pack, which included the game and a number of special items.

An important update from the development team.

It cost £33 and you couldn’t use these items until after the version 1.0 update. Since that’s not releasing as scheduled, Konami has delisted the pack from digital storefronts, cancelled purchases, and will automatically refund customers. So, if you did buy it, you don’t have to do anything to get your money back.

According to the news post on the official eFootball 2022 website, anyone who has had their purchase cancelled and wishes to keep playing the game will need to re-download it. Your play data shouldn’t be affected so long as you use the same account.

The Premium Player Pack will be made available again once the version 1.0 update is out, but Konami will need to have really turned eFootball 2022 around to convince people to spend money on it again.

Its name was immediately dragged through the mud upon release thanks to its poor graphics, gameplay, and a near endless list of bugs and glitches. What doesn’t help is that the alternatives are unequivocally better, with it launching right around the same time as FIFA 22 and now there’s a new Football Manager game for Konami to lose players too.

eFootball 2022 is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. iOS and Android versions are still in development.
