A Red Dead Redemption remaster is reportedly next in life if the rumoured GTA Trilogy sells enough.
As originally reported by Kotaku, a remaster of GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas is reportedly being released later this year and will feature graphics that are a mixture of old and new. This trilogy is also reportedly the decider for whether more Rockstar Remasters will be coming later down the line.

The Kotaku report says, "For fans who are more interested in other classic Rockstar games getting remastered and rereleased, sources tell me that Rockstar has plans to develop new ports of games like Red Dead Redemption. But the future of these remastered games depends on how well these initial re-releases sell. However, for now, Rockstar is focused on getting these three remastered Grand Theft Auto games out the door alongside the GTA V next-gen ports."
Basing the future of these remasters on how well the GTA Trilogy sells almost guarantees that they'll be released. GTA is one, if not the, most popular game series out there, and fans will flock to a remastered version of those three titles with little question. This will likely be the case for any Rockstar game that gets the remaster treatment, which means we'll probably be seeing a few of these over the years.
The report also reveals that the GTA Trilogy and other planned remaster projects is why Red Dead Online has been receiving small updates over the past few years, with the focus being on getting these titles out. The impact of Covid has also likely delayed the trilogy, which will have had a knock-on effect on Red Dead Online updates.
A Red Dead Redemption remaster has been one of the most prevailing Rockstar rumours ever since Red Dead Redemption 2 released. Considering a part of the game has you playing as John Marston before the events of the original title, fans have wanted a remaster to bridge the events and allow it to be played on modern consoles.
