Aliens: Fireteam Elite Tops The UK Charts In First Week Of Release

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a hit in the UK, landing at the top spot of the boxed charts. It sold double that of Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, and even dethroned Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut which, only last week, was number one.

It saw 42% of sales on PlayStation 5, 31% on Xbox Series X|S, and 27% on PS4. It jumped ahead of Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto 5, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, FIFA 21, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Marvel's Avengers, and The Last of Us: Part 2.

No More Heroes 3 also released and currently sits at number 16 in the charts, but that is purely physical sales, not digital. As such, Xbox Game Pass and other storefronts are excluded from these numbers.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite to Alien: Isolation is what Aliens was to Alien. It's the action-packed spectacle with horror elements, a raunchy shooter that sees the rag-tag team of survivors duking it out with Xenomorphs – plural.

It's akin to Left 4 Dead, Gears of War, and even World War Z in that it's a co-op mission-based shooter, but – as we said in our review – "Cold Iron Studios has synthesized a lot of tried-and-true ideas into something totally original."

If you're a fan of Alien, then it'll be right up your alley. Evidently, plenty are hooked on that premise alone. The game sports an all-time peak of 15,550 players on Steam right now, a number that is steadily rising.
