All Upcoming Video Games This Week

Last week, there weren’t as many high profile games that came out, but this week is incredibly packed with tons of new games and ports. Lots of indie games, a few sequels, and a very high profile port are coming in the week ahead.

Here are all the Upcoming Video Games this week

Chivalry 2

The sequel to the 2012 game, this multiplayer-focused game features 64-player battles to go along with its hack and slash style combat. The original game generally received positive reviews from critics, and its successor seeks to ramp up the violence with lots of brutal action and kills in its classic setting.

Set in the Medieval ages, with a lot of emphasis on carefully using weapons including swords and shields to fight in either Team Deathmatch or in a team objective mode.It is set to release on June 8 on both current and last-gen consoles as well as on PC.

Descenders

The Xbox Series consoles will finally be getting their ports of this fast-paced extreme sports game. Released first on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PS4, it was met with generally positive reviews from critics and had overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam. Developers RageSquid sought to bring on more extreme sports titles and sought to increase the relatively small number of them with this addition to the genre, focused on downhill biking along primarily dirt roads and trails.

Descenders features procedurally generated maps for players to spend their time in. It will be released on the Xbox Series consoles on June 8th.

Backbone

This gritty, role-playing detective noir title is set to be released on last-gen consoles and PC after the free release of its prologue. Set in a world purely inhabited by animals, you play as a wolf detective interrogating suspects and unlocking mysteries. Featuring dialogue options to help enhance the sidescrolling gameplay and a classic soundtrack, this upcoming retro-style release will follow up on the prologue’s strong promises. It will also end up immediately on the Xbox Game Pass service as one of the titles released under it.

Backbone will finally be released for PC on June 8th and at an unannounced release date for other platforms.

Edge of Eternity

This JRPG is making its way to PC with its turn-based combat and epic story in no time at all. After the beta and a few years of development, this game has taken its time to craft its tale of wonder and sacrifice, with its two protagonists on a familiar quest to stop the root of evil out to destroy everything it touches. The game has been in early access for quite a while, with Midgar Studio hard at work to improve and polish their product before its eventual release.

While it is set to be released on June 8, the console versions of the title will release in the latter part of 2021, its release date still to be determined.

Neptunia ReVerse

An updated version made for the PS5 of the original RPG game Hyperdimension Neptunia, this title will hold a staggering 27 characters on launch. Featuring intense visuals and combat animations, the game holds a lot of things for the player to do within its world. Outfits and equipment to customize characters will also be present and plenty. The original game received mediocre reviews in the west but was greeted favorably in Japan. It will also take the spot as the enhanced port of the PS Vita port, which managed to further improve upon the original.

Neptunia ReVerse releases on June 8 on PS5 consoles.

Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town

A point and click adventure game from Leonardo Interactive, this new Nintendo Switch port features its main protagonist, Willy Morgan, searching for the mystery and reasonings behind his father’s disappearance. It brings with it a unique and refreshing 3D perspective and environment, with more than a few dozen locations to explore. A demo for the game is currently free, and the game is already available on PC, having garnered generally positive reviews from critics and very positive reviews from audiences on Steam.

Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town will be released on June 8 and has a PS4 edition coming at an unspecified date.

Green Hell

Releasing on the Xbox One and PS4 consoles, this indie survival game primarily takes place in the Amazon Rainforest. It features a first-person perspective as one uses whatever resources they can find to be able to make it through in the rough environments, as you take control of a researcher trying to find his wife, whom he is in contact with on a radio. The Amazon Rainforest serves as the open world where the player so desperately tries to survive. It already holds a 77 on Metacritic with very positive reviews from audiences on Steam.

It will be released on last-gen consoles this June 9th after already being released on PC.

Alba: A Wildlife Adventure

This neatly designed open-world game will finally see a release on the Nintendo Switch as well as the last and current generation of Playstation and Xbox Consoles. Having garnered positive reviews with its PC release, the BAFTA-winning studio behind this and other titles, including Monument Valley and Assemble with Care, have crafted a wonderful world where you explore an island, interacting with all kinds of wildlife and aquatic creatures present. The game places emphasis on exploration and photography, providing a nice, pleasant change of pace compared to mainstream games these days.

Alba: A Wildlife Adventure is set to be released on June 9.

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle

After living on the Wii and Nintendo Switch, No More Heroes 2 will see a PC HD remaster at long last. This classic has you controlling Travis Touchdown, trying to reclaim his top assassin position in this brutal and bloody action hack-and-slash game. The sequel, No More Heroes 3, is also set to be released on the Nintendo Switch later this year. Travis’ popular and positively received second outing is a good way to prepare for the next instalment in the franchise.

Open Country

A new adventure and simulation game from 505 Games and Fun Labs, this new game features different environments to explore and attempt to survive in. Within the game, you control a hunter who can choose to go fishing and hunting for animals with different and unique reactions to player actions, with different kinds of weaponry, vehicles and equipment available for one to use. Given the game’s nature, it allows one the ability to learn how to adapt and hunt in different locations and environments to be able to survive.

It is set for a June 10th release on the PS4, current and last generation of consoles, and on PC.

Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection

This brand new collection of classic games was announced three months ago and will be released in just a few days. Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection will contain all three previous games in the series, in addition to almost all of the released downloadable content from the games, from new modes to alternate costumes. The notoriously difficult series will bring back Ryu Hayabusa and other characters with its intense and bloody fast-paced gameplay. The deluxe edition will also feature an artbook as well as the soundtrack for the games.

The collection will be released on June 10 on the last generation of consoles as well as on PC.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade

The PS5 port of one of last year’s most renowned and acclaimed games finally arrives. Join Cloud Strife as he goes across Midgard, interacting with a colourful, unique, and most importantly, iconic cast of characters while trying to stop a megacorporation from draining the life of their world. This new, fresh and fun remake of the original classic enhances the experience of the original, and the new PS5 port also includes Intergrade, featuring a new episode with Yuffie and adding Photo Mode. It also managed to bag a few Game of the Year awards from some publications and was also free on PS Plus a few months ago.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s PS5 port releases on June 10.

We Are Football

Opting for a different approach from most sports games, this title from THQ Nordic focuses on team management rather than partaking in the actual game. We Are Football centres around the more technical and behind-the-scenes aspects of the sport, having also managed to get certain licenses and teams. It focuses on either managing a big team already or taking on a newer group to bring into the higher levels of play. It will also focus on preparing tactics for your team to use in matches, as well as handling the team’s players.

The title releases on June 10 on the PC platform only.

Chicory: A Colorful Tale

With its official trailer released back in February, this new game brings a delightful shift to being a pleasant, colorful experience. After being funded quickly on Kickstarter, the developers have since created a neat little game with a large emphasis on painting and art. In it, you follow an anthropomorphic dog exploring the world and using its brush to bring life to its black and white world. With the brush, one can also potentially solve different puzzles scattered throughout the game’s locations, with local co-op also available for one to play with friends.

Mercenaries Blaze: Dawn of the Twin Dragons

This PC port for the game released on the Nintendo Switch last year, sitting at a 70 on Metacritic, is a thrilling turn-based strategy game. With 3D graphics, it takes the player on an intense, emotional journey with lots of decisions to make regarding your characters and their capabilities in combat. This wondrous tale will be available in the form of a single-player only story and will engage all kinds of strategy players. Turn-based strategy fans will surely enjoy this title, as you attempt to plan out what you have to do when in conflict, and with the promises of its narrative, is sure to please players.

Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX+

After around a decade, this long-running series from Nintendo is to see new life in this installment. This thrilling experience now featuring enhanced gameplay and multiplayer will serve to mark as yet another port with lovely additions to the positively reviewed original game. Dariusburst, a horizontal scrolling shooter, has had previous enhancements and updates for all kinds of platforms in the past already after its start on the old classic PSP.

With a few dozen unique boss encounters, players will have lots of things to do and places to explore in this title.

Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX+ will be released on the PS4, and Nintendo Switch platforms this June 11.

Life of Fly 2

An experimental simulation game serving as a sequel to the original, it keeps its wacky and philosophical premise as a collection of short stories. In it, you play as flies while somehow delivering strong narratives about humanity and life. This odd game places you in the insect’s position while exploring deep themes through its unconventional delivery. This set of 13 short stories will help serve as a follow-up to the original, which currently has an 8/10 on Steam from a few reviews.

Life of Fly 2 releases on Xbox One this June 11, while it releases on the Nintendo Switch and on PC on June 10.

Let’s Cook Together

This brand new title will immediately bring back memories of the Overcooked! series, with its emphasis on cooperative cooking. Primarily centered around multiplayer setups, this cooking game will force players to communicate well with each other in order to toss ingredients and create new, delicious dishes. With its 2D art style and anthropomorphic ingredients for playable characters, things can get creative and wild in the kitchen. New challenges for duos to overcome are present and will surely be a nice little couch co-op game.

Let’s Cook Together will release on PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PS4 consoles this June 11.

Game Builder Garage

A brand new, unique Nintendo Switch title, Game Builder Garage allows one to take notes from Nintendo as you create your own video game. The possibilities are practically limitless, as one can craft whichever genre they wish. Lessons are present to help guide those in the process of developing their own games, and it looks like it’s shaping up to be a Mario Maker for casual players. The ability to create your own game is an incredibly interesting one, with you also able to choose the soundtrack and background music, and you can even share them with people all over the world.

Guilty Gear: Strive

A new instalment in the long fighting game series is coming very soon and will feature new mechanics like a “wall break” and conclude some stories in the canon after Guilty Gear Xrd. It features gorgeous visuals in this brand new title, revamping the gameplay and boasting incredible and interesting characters in its roster. The narrative promises an intense, epic tale featuring bombastic and fantastical battles between its delicately animated story moments. The 15 available launch characters each bring something unique to the game and bring on wonderfully detailed anime-style 3D designs.

Farm Frenzy Refreshed

This farm simulator released for Mac and PC earlier this year is finally coming to Xbox One. With a few positive reviews on Steam, Farm Frenzy Refreshed allows you to manage your crops and your townsfolk in order to create your ideal farmland and ranch. A modern addition to the casual genre with simple and bright 3D visuals and relaxing gameplay, this title is one surely meant for one to play in their downtime if they want to cool down after intense battles in other games.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

Quite possibly, the highest-profile release of the month, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, serves as a sequel to the 2016 reimagining of the debut, bringing its action-adventure third-person platforming to the next generation of Playstation consoles. It follows Ratchet, Clank, and popular new character Rivet as they try to stop Dr Nefarious from erasing all organic life as well as encountering Emperor Nefarious by travelling through different realities in this stunning showcase of the PS5’s capabilities.
