Indie developer Benjamin Rivers has announced that his acclaimed sci-fi romance title Alone With You will be launching on Nintendo Switch on July 30, 2021. Retailing for $9.99, pre-orders are currently live on the Nintendo eShop with a pre-launch discount of 10% off. I would heartily recommend the game to anyone that has a penchant for puzzles and symbolic writing. Alone With You is something of a hidden gem in the indie scene and is well worth multiple playthroughs to see its different endings.
Inspired by old-school point-and-click adventure titles, Alone With You is rendered in a style not dissimilar to that of Sega CD games. There are saturated colors, fuzzy filters, and smooth transitions between each screen that help set the mood. The story revolves around the last survivor of a space colony exploring the ruins of a crumbling planet. By collecting items and feeding them into a reconstructor, the survivor is able to relive the memories of the last few scientists that were alive before an unspecified event killed them. It's very heartbreaking, especially towards the end.

Interestingly, the previously announced subtitle "Deep Space Edition" has been dropped from this release. Initially, it seemed like the Switch version would be coming with extra content, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Even without anything new, Alone With You is still worth seeking out. The game's themes of lost connections, break-ups, love, and hope are sure to warm your heart as well as tickle your brain.
The slower nature of the game is a perfect fit for the Switch, but if you cannot wait to play the game, Alone With You is currently available on PC, PS4, and PS Vita.
