First of all, the first thing you'll have to do to enjoy this event is to update your game. This is a free update as always. You can already download Ver. 1.11.0 of the game since it became available July 29, 2021. You will also be happy to know that Nintendo has already confirmed that this is only one of the many updates we'll be getting, as more updates will be coming our way later this year. This is great news as it'll keep the game fresh for older players.

Fireworks Shows

The fireworks shows are certainly the main part of the August event, it's always fun to look at them as they burst into beautiful colors in the sky. If you speak to Isabelle during the day of the event and select the I've got a firework idea! option, you can select up to ten designs of your custom pattern designs. By doing this you'll be able to see your designs turn into fireworks.

The shows start at the same time for the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere, fireworks will start going off at 7 pm so be sure to be ready a few minutes before that. You can attend the event every Sunday throughout the month of August, this means that you can attend the show on the following dates:

Raffle, Rewards, And Limited-Time Items

Similar to last year, you can participate in Redd's Raffle and now he's gotten some new items to sweeten up the prize pool, quite literally. Last year's sparkler, fountain firework, bubble blower, uchiwa fan, pinwheel, tweeter, and balloon variants are still available. This year, there's also a chance that you'll receive frozen treats, cotton candy, and boba tea. These are all consumable prizes that work like fruit, meaning that afterward, you can dig up some trees or break some rocks, or, alternatively, sit on the toilet to lose the fruit boost.

You can talk to Isabelle and if you participate in the event on different days, she'll give you a free Bopper to wear on your head. There are four different variants to collect.

As for limited-time items, we are getting quite a few. For Obon, you can purchase the Eggplant Cow and the Cucumber Horse from August 10 until August 16. For Moon-Viewing Day, you can purchase Dango and Moon Cakes from September 12 to September 21. For Chuseok, you can purchase Songpyeon from September 12 to September 21. You can order these items through Nook Shopping via Nook Stop in Residential Services or, if you've unlocked it, through the Nook Shopping App on your NookPhone.
