Apex Legends Will Nerf Seer In The Next Update

Apex Legends introduced Seer with the Emergence update. The hat wearing Legend has the ability to spot enemy players by sensing their heartbeats. While Respawn mentioned that the response to the new character has been good, he may just be a tad bit overpowered. With that in mind, the devs have said that he will be nerfed in an upcoming update.

As spotted by PCgamesN, Respawn hosted a Reddit AMA a couple of days ago to discuss the new season as well as Seer. When asked about what the studio thinks about him, and whether there will be any balancing updates, gameplay engineer RSPN-Travis said, ”Seer has launched strong, which was the hope. He's also brought a lot of new gameplay elements to the game (HP bars, interrupt) which has driven a lot of discussion with players, which is great to see. With that being said is probably a bit too strong at the moment and will receiving some balance updates in an upcoming patch.”

It seems that the new guy is a bit too strong, so Respawn will be nerfing some of his abilities or stats in order to compensate. No real details have been provided about the update or when we can expect it to roll out. However, some fans seemed a bit confused about why Respawn would release an unbalanced character.

“The intent was strong and not broken,” clarified Travis. “I think you can look back at some of our previous legends and see that we missed the mark there, where they were picked a lot in the first week and then they fall into obscurity. At the end of the day we just can't know exactly how something is going to land in the wild with 100% accuracy. Seer is too strong right now and we'll be looking to adjust him soon in an upcoming patch.”

Elsewhere in the AMA, Respawn also confirmed that the next-gen update for Apex Legends was being worked on. “Oh man, I WISH I had an update to share but we can't say anything definitive at the moment—so can't spoil anything here. Trust us tho, it's in the works and we're excited about it too,” said director of communications, rkrigney.
