Aquaman 2 Director Reveals First Look At New Jason Momoa’s Suit

Aquaman director James Wan shared a first look at a new Jason Momoa’s stealth suit for the sequel. It seems famous DC superhero will appear in several different costumes in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, including the classic comics suit acquired by him at the end of the first movie.

James Wan posted a series of photos featuring Jason Momoa as Aquaman on social media, giving fans a proper first look at the new Arthur Carry outfit for Aquaman 2. As seen in the pictures, the new stealth suit is almost completely stripped away from heavily armored pieces, preferring agility and discreetness bonuses for its owner. Thus, the costume looks completely different from Zack Snyder’s vision for Justice League.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director also offers a brief description of the new costume for the iconic DC superhero. According to Wan, this Atlantean tech is based on cephalopod’s camouflaging ability to help Aquaman blend in with the underwater environment. Wan added that he and writer David Leslie Johnson were inspired by the “blue suit” from the 80’s classic comic books.

Jason Momoa and Amber Heard will reprise their roles in the upcoming follow-up. Previously Momoa hinted that his character will get not only the new suit but a completely new look as Arthur Carry is “going to be a blond.” Other stars from the original, including Dolph Lundgren, Patrick Wilson, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will also appear in the next chapter.

More information regarding Aquaman 2 or even a possible teaser will be given at the DC FanDome event, slated on October 16. However, it may be still too early for some actual footage, as the shooting process has begun just at the end of June. Apart from upcoming blockbusters (such as Black Adam and The Flash), fans can also expect a new look at Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League and Gotham Knights.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will premiere on 16 December 2022. Earlier this year Warner Bros. has canceled the franchise’s horror spinoff The Trench about the fallen tribe of Atlantis from the depths of the Ocean.
