Archer Season 12 Trailer Takes Fans On Mission To Save The Earth Again

The now-classic comedy animated series Archer is becoming a senior show with now over a decade's worth of seasons. The witty spy adventure comedy series has survived as a fan-favorite and unique show in its storytelling and character development, and now a new preview for season 12 has arrived ahead of its FXX and Hulu premiere.

The long wait for season 12 of Archer is finally over and with a teaser trailer, fans are likely more excited than ever. With the last season having Archer waking up out of his coma, this season will be the second with the famous spy back in the real world (with some key differences). The titular character has to use a cane to support himself but still remains badass in his spy and attack capabilities.

The trailer opens in a hilarious scene of Archer losing against some unknown characters in a game of Dungeons and Dragons. Following this scene, the trailer introduces the theme of the season described as "saving the world." Archer and the crew appear to be on a mission in Africa to aid against ecological damage and terrorism. There are also scenes that take place in New York City, keeping the original setting of the show alive. Cyril (Chris Parnell), Ray (Adam Reed), Lana (Aisha Tyler) and Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) are out on the frontlines while Krieger (Lucky Yates), Pam (Amber Nash), and Cheryl (Judy Greer) remain in the city getting themselves into different shenanigans.

In a bittersweet moment, we hear the late Jessica Walter as Mallory Archer complaining about butterflies being "decorative pests." Walter was able to record her lines for the entirety of the season before her death, and how this will affect the fate of Mallory's character in this season or the next is uncertain. Mallory is an incredibly important character in the show and as fans know, someone who Archer himself would crumble without. The creator of the show, Adam Reed, stated around the time of Walter's death that the 12th season would pay tribute to her.

Throughout the past few seasons, the show has received mixed reviews upon taking a weird turn after Archer is put into a coma at the end of season 7. The following seasons until the 11th followed different coma dreams Archer is having, putting the crew in different time periods and places where they solve cases and get in trouble.

Now that Archer has awoken from a coma, it seems difficult for the spy to return completely to the level he was at before his unfortunate accident. The show, regardless, has been able to stay consistent in its witty and quick humor.

Archer season 12 premieres on FXX on August 25th, 2021, and will be available on Hulu the following day.
