Arrow Actor Stephen Amell Interested In Playing Oliver Queen Again

0

Stephen Amell expressed his interest in returning as Oliver Queen, commonly known as the Green Arrow, during a recent podcast that is dedicating to getting inside the mind of actors and other artists. For those who don't know, Amell starred as the titular character in The CW's live-action DC television series Arrow.

Amell's Arrow has already concluded its final season, but the show spawned numerous DC live-action spin-off shows in the Arrowverse including The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Superman & Lois, Black Lightning, and Batwoman. With that being said, DC is still looking to bring more properties, including a show based on Naomi McDuffie, who is a Black superpowered teen with super-strength, flight, durability, and energy manipulation powers.

During an interview on Michael Rosenbaum's Inside of You podcast, Amell said that with all of the projects he's done since Arrow,he can bring a new level of acting to the character. The more filming an actor goes through, the more their skill/talent is developed in the process of their journey in the craft. Amell also went on to point out that he wouldn't limit himself to an 8 or 10-episode mini-series, as he's intrigued by the character and had plenty of fun during his time as the star of Arrow.

Amell also pointed out another reason why returning shouldn't be out of the realm of expectations for fans, as Michal Keaton returned to Batman decades later. For him, he was Arrow "6 minutes ago," he jokes, so returning to the role wouldn't be anything unseen. Fans are already getting Ben Affleck back as Batman for a supposed final appearance as the Caped Crusader in the upcoming Flash movie.

Fans would love to see Amell return as the character, but as the actor said, he hasn't been approached. It's up in the air as to which direction DC will go for a film version of Oliver Queen. Arrow's version fits well in the universe the series established, but DC may need to make a darker version of Oliver Queen that fits more in the vein of what Zack Snyder established with the DCEU. Whoever they cast as Green Arrow and the way he's written needs to compliment the chemistry of Jurnee Smollett's Black Canary.

Amell has been working on projects left and right, so if DC decides to bring him back, here's hoping they can collaborate in order to bring a different take on Oliver Queen that fits in DC's cinematic timeline. There's also the other possibility of the multiverse allowing for multiple versions of the character.

Arrow is now available to stream on Netflix.
