Artist Shares Incredible Concepts for PlayStation Controller and Cover Art Combos

Custom Playstation Cover Art

Gamers everywhere can appreciate good art style, especially when it comes to gaming consoles. A good custom PlayStation console decal can add an individual's flare and personality to it while also potentially paying homage to a favorite game. Today, one artist pays homage to countless games through concept art for custom controllers and accompanying game box art.

A Twitter user by the name El Firescorpio, who is most commonly known for making geek poster content, made numerous tweets showcasing their visions for various games. The list includes; Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Returnal, God of War, Demon's Soul, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and two separate versions for Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

All the concepts are original silhouette drawings done by El Firescorpio and not screenshots taken from the game or previous covers. There are some aspects taken from the game, but the overall concept was made by El Firescorpio. Additionally, El Firescorpio claims that this project serves as a love letter to the PlayStation family and that there are still some cover artworks that they are working on.

The art style typically takes silhouettes from the selected games, a distinct primary color from the game, and incorporates them with the game's setting. For example, The God of War custom art takes both Kratos and Atreus, takes a nice cold blue color, and mixes it with the wintery background where a huge portion of the game takes place. El Firescorpio also made two different Spider-Man: Miles Morales covers because they said they felt their original design didn't look exactly like the controller.

Many fans are appreciative of El Firescorpio for sharing their art, saying they would buy these if possible. Some users even gave requests for games they should do next such as Days Gone. Others gave honest feedback and said they were not a huge fan of all the labels being placed in the center of the controller, but they still liked the attempt that was made.

Hopefully, Sony and other game development companies can take note of these designs and incorporate similar ideas into their next release. Other Twitter users made the point that it always seems like fans make better design choices in their PlayStation controller artworks than the companies that make them. While there are other factors to consider on the company's side, such as manufacturing cost and shipping, it would be interesting to see if any company decides to hire El Firescorpio for their game art.
