Artists Who Would Suit Life is Strange: True Colors As Well As Phoebe Bridgers and Novo Amor

Julien Baker

The Life is Strange series is known for its emotional narrative peaks, which are made more intense thanks to the help of the licensed tracks and original scores. Deck Nine's Life is Strange: True Colors is less than three weeks away from hitting the stores, and many players are excited about the new storyline, the possible romance option with Steph Gingrich from Life is Strange: Before the Storm, and the game's music. For True Colors, the original score is composed by Australian folk and indie pop duo Angus and Julia Stone, who are no strangers to the Life is Strange franchise because their track "Santa Monica Dream"was featured in the first game.

Another artist who composed an original score called "Haven" for Life is Strange: True Colors is Novo Amor, a Welsh singer and multi-instrumentalist who makes indie music and collaborated with Ed Tullett on the Heiress album. Life is Strange: True Colors will also include plenty of licensed tracks from a plethora of artists, like Radiohead and Phoebe Bridgers. After the release of her second album Punisher, Bridgers received a lot of praise for her haunting and melancholic lyrics, which got her four Grammy nominations. There are many other artists who would suit the newest Life is Strange game just as well as Phoebe Bridgers, Novo Amor, and Angus and Julia Stone.

Julien Baker

Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus formed an indie rock band called boygenius in 2018. Baker is known for the raw emotions she conveys with her songs and lyrics, often tackling issues dealing with human nature and mental health. This is particularly true with songs like "Shadowboxing" and the more recent "Hardline" from her new album Little Oblivions. It's likely that the years she spent closeted before coming out as lesbian had an impact on some of her gloomy lyrics, and as such she would be a perfect fit for True Colors.

Daugther

Daughter's songs are eerie and beautiful enough that they were called "the sad band" in their early years. Elena Tonra's voice perfectly matches the tones of Life is Strange games, and Daughter composed the original scores for Deck Nine's Life is Strange: Before the Storm. The band also covered "Poke" from Frightened Rabbit as part of the Tiny Changes project to honor the memory of the fellow artist Scott Hutchinson. Tonra went on to record her own album under the name Ex:Re, in which she let out her feelings about a recent breakup. As Daughter's record proves, the European band would be an ideal choice both for licensed tracks and original scores in True Colors.

Explosions in the Sky

This American band was originally formed under the name Breaker Morant, and their style mixes rock with post-rock and pop elements. Explosions in the Sky are instrumental storytellers, in the sense that they never really delve into lyrics for their music and just let their albums and song titles speak instead. Their instrumental music is still very emotional, and many of their songs have been featured in commercials, movies, TV shows, and video games. Songs like "First Breath After Coma," "Your Hand in Mine," and "Remember Me as a Time of Day" would be very fitting for any Life is Strange game, including True Colors.

Life is Strange: True Colors releases for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on September 10.
