Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles Looks Poised to Feed My Love for Deck-Building Rogue-likes

Deck-building rogue-likes. So hot right now. Everyone loves ’em. And while one may argue that we already have way too many of these on the market (Slay the Spire, Monster Train, SteamWorld Quest, etc come to mind), we could always use more of them. Enter Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles, a new game developed by Little Leo Games, which seeks to add a twist to the heavily explored genre by introducing dice to switch things up.

You can check out the reveal trailer down below:

In addition to building a deck and drawing cards which can then act as skills and abilities to defeat your enemies with, Astrea also adds various six-sided dice that will determine the kinds of cards you’ll be able to draw. There are varying levels of risk with each set of dice, along with abilities that are aligned with Purity and Corruption, allowing you to to keep things fresh in subsequent runs and build a deck that really suits your play style.

Here’s a quick rundown of the features:

  • Fortify Your Astrarium: Choose among hundreds of different dice that suit your penchant; reliably safe, perfectly balanced, or powerfully risky
  • Purify vs Corruption: Tactfully wield an innate risk vs reward system by pacifying enemies through Purification, or Corrupt yourself to unleash abilities that will help tip the scales
  • Choose Your Path Wisely: Laden with bountiful boons to enhance your chances for success and encounters against waves of enemies that impede your progress, chart a course through the star system to the source of Corruption
  • Choose from Six Brave Oracles: Each possessing their own unique dice sets, abilities, and playstyles

All in all, it’s looking pretty promising so far and we’re definitely excited to see more of what this game has to offer. Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles doesn’t have a release date just yet, but we’ll keep you updated as more info comes our way.
