#freeAbylight Campaign Hits The Web After Unceremonious Twitter Ban

Abylight Studios is a name that will likely ring a bell for many a Nintendo Switch player, as the publisher has brought many delightful games like Hyperlight Drifter: Special Edition and Cursed Castilla EX to the platform. Abylight is back in the spotlight right now, but not because of any games its working on. Instead, the publisher is railing against social media giant Twitter for suspending its account without cause.

According to Abylight CEO Eva Gaspar, the ban came “without warning or explanation.” Gaspar continues, stating that “losing this account affects the work of many people, jobs depend on this working out fast. This attitude is incredibly dangerous and careless from such a big company, especially given the current state of affairs worldwide.”

Abylight alleges that it has made every effort to reach out to Twitter for an explanation behind the suspension, but the company has not replied as of this writing. In the interim, Abylight is trying to drum up fan support by getting a #freeAbylight campaign trending across all social media platforms. If you’d like to lend support to Abylight, feel free to use the hashtag yourself along with the above image.

Twitter continues to face backlash for its policies towards both users and the content that they post, with this being the latest example of questionable policing of its platform. Abylight believes it has done nothing to violate Twitter’s terms of service, making the suspension altogether confounding for the publisher. When this situation changes, we’ll be sure to update this story.
