Resident Evil has been a massive commercial success for Capcom with recent entries, with Resident Evil 2 (7.5 million units sold) and Resident Evil 7 (8.3 million units) both among their highest selling games of all time. With the sequel, Resident Evil Village, Capcom is reportedly expecting even more impressive sales.

Known Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem recently took to Twitter to share that Capcom is expecting Village to sell as many as 11 million copies worldwide by March 2025, within roughly four years of its release next year.

As per Dusk Golem, Capcom realizes it has “struck gold” with the game, which it expects will be better reviewed and received that Resident Evil 7 (owing partly to the fact that it’s a much meatier experience). Meanwhile, the leaker also mentions that recent media announcements for Resident Evil, including the live action Netflix series, the CG series, and the upcoming film reboot, are also expected the generate higher interest in the franchise as a whole, which is likely to help with Village’s sales as well.

Resident Evil Village launches in 2021 for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with PS4 and Xbox One versions also being considered. A recent leak suggested that the game will launch in April (and that a demo will be releasing before that). Meanwhile, that same leak has also spilled the beans on a number of unannounced Resident Evil titles- read more on that through here.

(2/2) is due to three main factors:
-Capcom realized they had struck gold with the game.
-Game is meatier & probably will review & be received better than RE7 was.
-High series & entry interest with Infinite Darkness, the new movie, etc.

RE8 will probably be fantastic.
