Back 4 Blood fans have two opportunities to get their hands on the game in the form of betas, with the first beta already closing tomorrow at noon. Back 4 Blood's early access weekend began on Thursday, but it is not openly available to everyone instantly. Instead, fans have had to pre-order or register for the beta in order to gain access. Fortunately, the easiest way for fans to get their hands on Back 4 Blood's early access beta while it remains open is to use Twitch Drops.
Back 4 Blood's Twitch Drops secure beta codes for fans who watch a participating live-stream for an hour, making early access simple to gain entry into if fans are willing and patient. This has perhaps added to the growing number of players who have experienced the open beta thus far as a cheeky marketing tactic. But however fans managed to get into Back 4 Blood's early access beta, there have already been staggering numbers for the game's concurrent PC player counts on Steam over the course of the last few days.

SteamDB charts and statistics depict how much traffic Back 4 Blood has received during its early access beta weekend. Back 4 Blood's concurrent player count for the weekend topped out at 98,024 on Saturday, August 7. Of course, there is always the potential that this evening's players could dethrone that peak player count. Back 4 Blood's first open beta weekend is continuing to go strong with 69,517 players actively in-game at the time of this writing, so it is entirely plausible that its player count could rise further before it ends.
Back 4 Blood's early access beta launches fans straight into the game's central hub encampment, where they may then enter matchmaking with friends or other players and begin Back 4 Blood's PvE campaign matches. The beta is seemingly aimed at getting players into matches with others and testing how well the network functionality works, and fans have been enjoying encounters against diverse Ridden hordes. Steam's charts showcase a steady plateau of players throughout the weekend, with its lowest dip in player count being around a healthy 36k.
An open beta is scheduled for next weekend, however, openly inviting fans to play without the requirement of pre-registration. It will be interesting to see how the player count for next weekend compares to this weekend. Either way, Steam's statistics demonstrate an overwhelming response from fans who are excited for Turtle Rock Studios' competitive multiplayer shooter.
Back 4 Blood releases on October 12, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
