Back 4 Blood has officially gone gold ahead of its October 12 release, Warner Bros. announced. The team at Turtle Rock now has two months to include all of the changes from the beta to the Day One update.
The announcement was dropped on Twitter by the developer and the game’s publisher. “We’re not seeing red right now, today it’s all gold!” the message says, congratulating everyone for amazing work. Therefore, the co-op zombie shooter most likely will arrive on time in October with no further delays, as this means all is ready for disc manufacturing and digital certification.
In Back 4 Blood, players oppose hordes of infected humans called the Ridden, including the massive mutated Ogre, in a desperate attempt to stay alive and reach their destination. There are several playable characters in the game with their own unique perks and abilities. Moreover, there’s a card system on top of that, aimed to provide a more varied experience each time you engage in combat with your friends.

Labeled as a spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead, Back 4 Blood has its own strengths, differences, and weaknesses. Judging by the community reaction, Turtle Rock has a lot to do now to implement all the player feedback from the recent beta — which reached almost 100,000 concurrent players over the past weekend. Despite the impressive number of active players on Steam alone, Back 4 Blood is currently getting mixed reactions among the fans.
Apparently, many were expecting a PvP versus campaign, similar to the popular Left 4 Dead game mode. Yet the devs chose to implement somewhat of its own versus mode in the upcoming shooter. Not everyone liked that, and it’s yet to be seen if the developers will take it into account while working on Back 4 Blood long-term support.
Another Back 4 Blood beta is starting today on August 12 and will run through August 16. Unlike the previous test, this one will be available for everyone across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Back 4 Blood is coming on October 12 and will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass.
