Fortnite is a games where players have plenty of reasons to come back thanks to its updates, battle passes, and the fact that players generally enjoy the gameplay. Epic Games was always straightforward in saying that it wanted Fortnite players to be able to play as a plethora of different characters, be it original characters created by Epic or licensed characters that can come to the game from time to time. This includes characters from specific companies or franchises, like Batman or Deadpool, but this concept also extended to the so-called Icon skins – the first of which was aptly based on the popular Fortnite streamer Ninja.
There are over 1,000 skins in Fortnite, now approaching 1,100 skins as of this writing, but the first ones to ever be released were the Aerial Assault Trooper and the Renegade Raider in Season 1. There are also a lot of concerns associated with skins, one of which is that they make players easier or harder to hit based on what they are currently using. Even if there are several skins in Fortnite that are massive, players should rest assured: the hitbox of each character stays the same regardless of their skin. Some skins do make players stand out more, though, meaning they could end up being spotted more easily by enemies because of proportions or simply because they come in bright colors. For those looking to take advantage of the summer, there are a couple of stand-out skin options.

The new Ariana Grande skin was just released, and it already won many fans over with its glittery, glacial looks. The glider has been getting a lot of praise as well, as in-game it is something special and unique, but the rest of this set is nothing to scoff at. This skin is perfect both for fans of the singer and players who want a colder and unique look when playing the game. The Ariana Grande skin sure turns some heads, especially now that not many players have access to it.
This Loki skin is from the Marvel series of Fortnite customization items, and it is a great way to celebrate the success of the Loki series that recently aired on Disney+. Loki is one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this skin is a great representation of the god of mischief and trickery. Epic aptly called this set the "God of Mischief," and it comes with the glider, harvesting tool, and back bling skins as well. This is the perfect set to stay relevant this summer.
The Fishstick Skin is a more common skin than the prior two, and considering it turns the player character into a fish it's perfect for some summertime gaming. It also comes with the Pirate style, which makes the Fishstick even more cartoon-y, in a good way. This skin has other variants, like Frozen Fishstick, and it should be coming back to the store toward the end of September for those players who don't own it.
This is yet another summery look for players who want to delve deep into the mysteries of the sea – or into the sea itself. The Starfish skin was first released around two years ago and returned to the store recently, but players who didn't catch her shouldn't fret; the skin will likely return at some point in October this year, albeit late for summer.
This skin is part of the Sunshine and Rainbows set released two years ago, and when available it can be purchased for 1,200 V-Bucks from the Item Shop in Fortnite. This is the perfect colorful and yet simple look to go for this summer, and it even features a cool skateboard for the back bling.

With its jelly look, the Rippley vs Sludge Skin from the Slurp Series is a great outfit to wear this summer. The skin was released as part of the Season 11 battle pass for the Slurp Squad set, and it also comes with a purple style (Rippley) and a more menacing red style (Sludge).
This Fortnite skin is not too dissimilar from the Rippley vs Sludge ones, with the main difference being that it's not as gelatinous as the latter; rather it depicts an anemone of sorts that's ready to brawl. This blue-and-purple skin was part of the Fish Food set, the same as the Fishstick skin, and it comes with the Tropical style for a more aqua-green look.
This cute skin is part of the Axolotl Attack! set, and it is arguably one of the most summery skins in the game. The Axo skin boasts a great look that also happens to be very distinctive. Players who want to be cool this summer should try and get this skin once it becomes available again. It also features the Axe-olotl harvesting tools for pun lovers.
The Summer Drift skin is part of the bundle by the same name that was first released this July, and it is a great choice for a cool beach look. The bundle also includes the Dual Edge harvesting tools, the Driftstream glider, and the Kitsune wrap. Unfortunately, being very new, it's impossible to know when it will come back.
Somewhat similar to the Beach Bomber skin, the Beach Jules skin is a fresh look that combines colorful tattoos, hair, and a bikini set for lots of sea exploration. Sunny days won't be scaring Beach Jules away, and this simple look can make players not too easy to spot compared with other options.
Fortnite is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
