The Holiday season is slowly but surely approaching, which means this is exactly around the time I start to tighten my belt and avoid buying anything that’s not a good deal. For those of you looking to save a buck or two, or even pick up something for free, we’ve rounded up five deals you can check out right now. For those of you stateside, here’s everything that can hold you over the long Labor Day weekend.

Critically Acclaimed Sales

Perhaps you’ve heard of the little-known MMORPG, Final Fantasy 14, which is preparing for its big Endwalker expansion coming up in November. The game itself—A Realm Reborn and its three expansions—goes on sale pretty often, but its cash shop items, surprisingly, do not. If you’re looking to step into Endwalker in fancy new glamour, now is the time to go shopping. Final Fantasy 14’s Online Store has knocked quite a bit off from its usual steep ask on Phials of Fantasia, mounts, and outfits.

Triple-A Price Cuts

Bigger titles aren’t always budget-friendly, but Steam’s got a growing list of sales from pricey adventures you may have skipped out on. Most notably, games like The Witcher 3, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and Dying Light, among others, have seen temporary discounts that may mean you can grab several for the usual price of one. There’s also a ton of Star Wars goodies, as EA has slashed prices on its Steam listings.

That’ll Be Zero Dollars, Please

Is it a deal if something’s free? I reckon that counts, so it’s worth mentioning that starting today, Watch Dogs: Legion is free to play on PS4, PS5, and PC for the weekend. You don’t get to keep Ubisoft’s hacking adventure forever, but this is also better than paying for something and hating it, especially when it typically has no demo. Unfortunately, for those of you with an Xbox, it looks like you may not be able to participate, but Ubisoft has held other events like this in the past, so don’t give up hope for your shot just yet.

Free Halo Infinite… Theme

Perhaps your Xbox dashboard is the ugly, boring typical look the console launched with. So if that’s the case, Microsoft has a little freebie to toss your way in honor of Halo Infinite’s upcoming launch—a dynamic theme. It’s obviously not as good as a free, triple-a-blockbuster featuring Chief this December, but it’ll keep you counting down the days until he arrives.

Gamer Days

If you’ve tried to buy a single PC part within the last year or two, then you most likely haven’t had a great time. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, already stressed manufacturers can’t seem to keep up with PC part demands, and that’s caused nasty price hikes and swarms of scalpers to strain supplies further. Thankfully, Intel is currently hosting one of the best sales I’ve seen since the ordeal began, with huge cuts to CPUs and pre-built rigs in its Gamer Days sale over on Newegg.
