Blastoise Is Finally Coming To Pokemon Unite Next Week

Blastoise is finally coming to Pokemon Unite, two months after the MOBA launched on Nintendo Switch.

Pokemon Unite officially marked Pokemon's first foray into the MOBA world when it launched on Nintendo Switch last month. The game's roster is limited, but that's because not every monster's traits lend themselves to this type of gameplay. The Pokemon Company and Tencent have to select which Pokemon make the cut very carefully.

On top of the limited roster available at launch, it was revealed that Gardevoir and Blastoise would also be joining the battle at a later date. Players only had to wait an additional week for Gardevoir. However, the wait for Blastoise continued. More than a month later, we now finally know when the gen one favorite will become a playable Pokemon.

Whoever is in charge of the Pokemon Unite Twitter account seems well aware of how eager the game's players are to get their virtual hands on Blastoise. “OK, Trainers. Blastoise: September 1. That is all,” is all the tweet reads. Clearly, they have been inundated with questions about when Blastoise would finally arrive. Understandably so as Blissey has since jumped the queue and is already playable.

No additional information regarding Blastoise's moveset was revealed. However, most of it can be seen on show in the tweet announcing its arrival. The Pokemon will be able to surf from place to place, dealing damage to any opponents that get in its way. It will also be able to summon a Hydro Typhoon, as well as hurt others by hiding in its shell and spinning around wildly. Blastoise will be available to buy using in-game currency from September 1, so start saving those coins now.

September is shaping up to be the biggest month yet for Unite. Blastoise will kick things off, and three months later two more playable Pokemon will arrive. Mamoswine and Sylveon were revealed as the next additions during last week's Pokemon Presents and will be added to the roster on September 22. That's the same day Unite is coming to mobile, so a very big one for the game.
