Bloodborne PS1 Demake Developer Shows Off Father Gascoigne Boss Fight

The developer of the PS1 demake of Bloodborne had made a little more progress, finishing and showing off the game's first proper boss fight with Father Gascoigne.

In case you missed the story, developer Lilith Walther is on a mission to turn the first few bosses of From Software's masterpiece Bloodborne into a short game complete with PS1-era graphics. Labeled as Bloodborne PSX, Walther started revealed the project back in January, tweeting out a bunch of gameplay demonstrations.

Shortly after, Walther was back with another demonstration in March, showing off the fight with the Cleric Beast complete with brand new, authentic music to accompany the battle. Almost four months later, it's now Father Gascoigne who's getting the demake treatment, and the latest demonstration looks just a brilliant as the rest of them.

The video which was uploaded to YouTube on June 13 (which is linked below) starts off with a one-for-one demake of the initial cutscene that plays when the player enters Gascoigne's area for the first time. The boss fight then ensues as normal before Gascoigne goes beast mode, smashes up some gravestones, and then the player.

While the video looks massively impressive, it's worth noting that Walther explains in the video's description that there are a few things missing. Walther still has some bugs to remove, needs to add a fog wall, and has few attack animations to implement, but wants to reassure eager fans that Bloodborne PSX is getting closer to the finish line.

If you're interested in following the development of the Bloodborne PSX project, then you might want to go follow Walther on Twitter. She regularly posts development updates as well as assets and videos of development. You may also want to consider following Evelyn Lark who has been working with Walther on the game's music.

As for the future of the Bloodborne franchise, plenty of rumors have been floating around, although it's very likely none of them are legit. Most recently, the "Velvet Vail" rumor regarding a Bloodborne sequel was recently debunked by noted Bloodborne modder Lance McDonald who claims the leak is "complete fiction."
