BloodRayne Betrayal Getting Remastered For PC And Consoles On September 9

Publisher Ziggurat Interactive has announced that BloodRayne Betrayal’s high-definition remaster called Fresh Bites will be coming on September 9.

Originally released in 2011, 2D action-platformer BloodRayne Betrayal is returning ten years later in the enhanced re-issue for modern platforms. The original developer WayForward has updated the game with up to 4K cleaned-up visuals, improved controller support for haptic feedback, and cleared out remaining bugs. In terms of content, Fresh Bites will be fully identical to the original and will offer 15 different stages of a massive underground castle.

Fresh Bites will also bring new difficulty options to the table. More casual players will be able to play through the story with a newly rebalanced difficulty tuned for a fun and engaging experience. At the same time, old fans will get their punishing difficulty mode, lovingly described by the creators as a “tough-as-nails challenge.”

The most interesting feature is a brand-new voice acting performance by the original cast, including Laura Bailey as dhampir Rayne, Troy Baker as Rayne’s father Lord Kagan, as well as the addition of Patrick Seitz and Todd Haberkorn to the cast. You can check the new footage for BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites right here, although there’s minimal voice acting:

Aside from its wide digital release across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites will be getting a physical release for PS4, PS5, and Switch through Limited Run Games. Those waiting for the remaster on PC can already add it to your wishlist on GOG and Steam.

BloodRayne Betrayal marked the dramatic shift for the franchise, switching from a third-person action to a fast-paced 2D side-scroller. Last year, the first two entries in the series got remastered Terminal Cut Editions, bringing 4K visuals, upscaled cinematics, and modern controller support alongside some other minor technical improvements for the fans.

Aside from remastering the existing titles in the series, publisher Ziggurat earlier announced that new BloodRayne titles are on the way. Sadly, no information regarding the case was shared ever since.
