Borderlands 3: How To Get The Light Show Pistol

Staying true to the appealing Borderlands 3 formula, the Western-themed Bounty of Blood DLC has introduced a slew of awesome and explosive new weapons that are just plain fun to play around with. Along with satisfying guns like the Robin's Call and the return of the fan-favorite Unkempt Harold, one notable addition is the potent pistol known as the Light Show.

This guide will give a quick rundown about the weapon and explain how to most effectively score one.

What Is The Light Show?

This aptly-named Vladof weapon is a brand new pistol introduced in 2020's Borderlands 3 expansion, Bounty of Blood. While on the small side, this pistol packs quite a punch with some incredibly high damage output.

This is thanks in part to its four projectiles, despite using up just one ammo per shot. The projectiles of this automatic pistol launch in a cross shape that fittingly resembles a pyrotechnic light show. This makes the weapon as fun to watch in action as it is to fire on enemies. It thrives best at close range, though it can also be suitable at medium distance.

Between its unique projectile display, solid DPS, and its elemental augmentations (every element), it's no surprise that this legendary pistol has become such a hit amongst BL3 players. It's one of the better weapons in the game, and certainly one of the best legendaries in the DLC.

  • As a fun side note its flavor text, "Give me some light, away!" is a cheeky, poetic reference to Shakespeare's Hamlet, spoken by Claudius.

How To Obtain A Light Show Pistol

  • This weapon can technically be found from any suitable loot source as long as it's within the Bounty of Blood campaign.
  • It can most often be scored from the ominous reptilian Scourge known as Lasodactyl, an optional mini-boss who lurks in Obsidian Forest. Specifically, they can be found in an isolated cavern not too far from the Chrone's Contentment area.

    • As the foe in question is a respawnable mini-boss, you'll be able to farm them to some degree, though keep in mind that there is no save point particularly close to them, so you'll have to make a fairly long trek for every death.
    • The Light Show reportedly has a 33 percent chance of dropping from Lasodactyl.

Tips For Farming And Defeating Lasodactyl

  • Since the creature flies around, it's advised to stick with weapons that are accurate, powerful, fast-firing, and have damage-over-time elementals – or at least some combination thereof. The powerful sniper rifle known as the Complex Root is a great choice here. It can be obtained from Lani Dixon on Ashfall Peaks – Caldera Stronghold (Gehenna).
  • Zane's Drone Delivery (tier two passive skill in the Hitman skill tree), as well as Digi-Clone (tier zero Action Skill from the Doubled Agent skill tree) are ideal for this boss.
  • Consider using the Rough Rider legendary shield, as it can increase movement speed by 10 percent when your shield is slow. The Vanquisher SMG can also be utilized to increase slide speed.
  • Take advantage of the loot source right at the spawn point when farming – which takes the form of a wooden portapotty. There's a chance it will yield a legendary weapon that may be useful against the boss.
  • Look to rush in and deal as much damage as possible from the outset, as there will be a brief period at the start in which Lasodactyl will stay relatively still before soaring back and forth.
  • Lasodactyl will often fly towards you, especially when you are standing still, so plan accordingly.
  • Even if Lasodactyl doesn't drop the Light Show, there's a decent chance they'll at least yield some sort of legendary, so don't get discouraged if coming up empty after a few attempts.
  • Be careful not to finish off Lasodactyl near the cliffs, as there's a good chance much of its loot will fall off the map.
