Boreal Tenebrae short film digs into the game’s dying town

Boreal Tenebrae Short Film

While waiting for the release of Boreal Tenebrae, the developer has shared a short film on YouTube that makes use of the game’s polygonal aesthetic, which harkens back to the good old days of the PlayStation 1.

Daniel Beaulieu, the creator of the game, directed and developed this new cinematic. It introduces you to the dark world of Boreal Tenebrae, where everything is out of the usual. In town, strange blocks spewing mesmerizing static have appeared. Some residents have been absorbed by this strange entity and have never returned.

Boreal Tenebrae immerses you in a fascinating adventure with a hint of terror. You go across numerous distinct locales from Boreal’s world and a terrible parallel dimension in quest of your lost sister Sarah in this nightmare of a fading town.

“The concept behind Boreal Tenebrae comes from my youth,” Beaulieu says. “Growing up in some of the small rural communities of Canada gave me a unique and anachronistic perspective of the 1990s, juxtaposed between tradition and technology.”

Boreal Tenebrae will launch on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S later this year.
