Breath of the Wild Player Discovers Genius Detail After Playing for Over 600 Hours

As fans eagerly wait for the sequel to drop, many are still putting countless hours into The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and experiencing everything the game has to offer. And even after all this time, many people are still making discoveries in Breath of the Wild, showing just how much detail Nintendo has put into the game.

One fan, who goes by the name Avalares42 on Reddit, made a fascinating discovery about the open-world aspect of Breath of the Wild. It turns out if players light a fire under a beehive, they can smoke the bees out of the beehive without killing them, an aspect they were shocked to learn after putting in 600 hours of progress into the game.

In a detailed explanation video showing the process, Avalares dropped some firewood under an active beehive a couple of feet away. Then, they shot a fire arrow into it, setting it ablaze. Once the smoke rose into the beehive, the bees immediately left, making it safe for gamers to harvest the honey from the nest.

It is always fun to figure out new creative details put into games. Players applauded Avalares for showing them this surprising detail in Breath of the Wild, stating that they played for a similar amount of hours and never noticed that detail either. Others who figured this out before explained the different methods this can work. Specifically, walking under a beehive with a lit torch and throwing a bomb under the tree will also have the same effect, albeit one being more destructive than the other. Although, these other methods won't cost players as many resources.

Another way players can smoke the bees out of the beehive is to aim a flaming arrow into the beehive while standing right under it. That, and any flaming weapon types, should do the trick. However, with the flaming weapons, the smoke alone might not be enough. Gamers might need to swing their weapon once to produce a sufficient amount of smoke.

This goes to show that there are plenty of undiscovered secrets in Breath of the Wild remaining. For example, many users reacting to the video were not even aware that items can be thrown a distance away with the directional pad. Hopefully, with this knowledge, fans will be more comfortable gathering ingredients while also being able to save the bees at the same time.
