The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is full of exciting and sometimes weird adventures. With a world overflowing with nooks and crannies to explore, the amount of possible secrets to uncover in Hyrule are seemingly never-ending. Recently, a fan discovered an unusual feature of the Great Plateau: the Old Man is in fact a number of Old Men.
At the beginning of Breath of the Wild, Link wakes up in the Shrine of Resurrection and discovers that he is in the area known as the Great Plateau. The starting region of the game, this place allows the player to gather their bearings before allowing them to travel wherever they choose. During this beginning segment of the game, the player has multiple encounters with an NPC known as the Old Man. This cloaked figure with a snow white beard helps Link start out on his journey.

While NPCs like the Old Man occasionally appear throughout the adventure, Breath of the Wild often is a solo experience, leaving Link to explore hidden areas of the world on his own. However, one fan decided to change that and take the Old Man from the Great Plateau with them on a trip. Known as ThornyFox on Reddit, this player realized that the elderly fellow met at the start of the game can be moved slightly by bumping into him. After discovering that the NPC could be pushed seemingly across the entire area of the Great Plateau, ThornyFox decided to take "the old man to meet his long lost brother."
After continuing to push the Old Man across the map for an extremely long period of time, the player finally reached the edge of a wooded area. Upon arrival at the location, the player comes across a small shack with a fire burning outside. This sometimes overlooked location is the Old Man's house. An odd thing happens when the the player reaches the dwelling with the elderly gentleman in tow. As they approach the campfire outside the house, they discover that the Old Man is apparently in two places at once as two identical versions of the Old Man are visible. While the developers probably meant for the player to only see one of the Old Man character models at a time, they hadn't anticipated someone with the patience and determination of ThornyFox to push the NPC all the way across the area.
It will be interesting to see what other Easter eggs players uncover over the coming months as they wait for the release of Breath of the Wild 2. After receiving a trailer for the game at E3 2021, the sequel to the best-selling Zelda title of all-time is scheduled to release in 2022. Until then, players like ThornyFox will have to continue to see what other secrets they can unearth in the 2017 game.
