Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is shaping up to be an interesting project. Despite having only two years to make the game, Treyarch, Raven Software, and some additional studios are doing their best to make fans happy with the return of the campaign and Zombies modes. It looks like multiplayer fans will also have something to be excited for, as Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer is supposedly launching with more than 10 maps.

According to TheGamingRevolution, who has proven to be a reliable source for leaked info on the Call of Duty series, dataminers have found that Black Ops Cold War will be dropping with over 10 maps on November 13th. That number will surely increase with Black Ops Cold War’s free DLC plan, but it’s a solid number for the game to be launching with.

For context, Call of Duty games on last gen consoles usually had a dozen maps when they launched, but that number has dwindled over recent years. Call of Duty: WW2 launched with nine core multiplayer maps, as its War game mode required maps of its own. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 was in a similar boat, with Modern Warfare’s Ground War mode once again requiring two separate, massive maps.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 featured a total of 14 maps on launch day, though 4 were remakes and 10 were originals. It will be interesting to see if remakes are joining the Black Ops Cold War lineup, as the news that there are at least 11 maps would be far less exciting if remakes were joining the fray as well. If all the 10+ maps are original, however, Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer mode will have a fair bit of content on launch day. Some of the weaponry set to feature in multiplayer leaked as well, giving fans an even bigger indication of what they will be seeing when the game arrives in a few months.

For those eager to learn more about the multiplayer mode and the Black Ops Cold War beta, they will need to tune in on September 9th for the official reveal. How in-depth Treyarch and Activision go on the 9th is unclear at this time, but whether it’s a multiplayer trailer or full gameplay, the event should prove exciting for fans of Call of Duty multiplayer. For now, at least, players have an idea if a possible map count for the game.

Whether Black Ops: Cold War’s maps are all as big as the desert map from the reveal trailer remains to be seen, so hopefully the reveal event will provide fans with more answers than questions. If vehicles and massive maps are a constant in Black Ops Cold War multiplayer, it is safe to say that the game will be taking a huge step in a new direction.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be available November 13th on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions will also be available.
