Revealed officially last week, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has finally be unveiled to the world, bringing with it a brand new teaser which alluded to a much grittier and more historically accurate take on the series than its later entries. Many are wondering, however, when exactly this new take on the franchise will hit shelves, with its reveal coming much later than Call of Duty‘s usual annual press push.
It seems dataminers have managed to answer that exact question by searching through the files of Modern Warfare and Warzone, with Call of Duty news site Charlie Intel claiming the leakers found references to the game releasing later this year. According to the publication, the game will release on November 13, with some even proposing that it could be a launch title for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

The information was supposedly sourced from “the text files in the game and also mentioned by the legal language of the different editions,” with the discoveries all pointing to the surprisingly close release date. Alongside that, the leak also turned up more information on when players will get their first full look at the game’s multiplayer, with the dataminers stating that the “MP world reveal of Black Ops Cold War will take place on September 9.” Strangely, the game is already set to be revealed on August 26, so if the information is true, it seems tomorrow’s coverage of the game will delve more into its story than its online components.
Speaking of which, dataminers also discovered more about the game’s narrative today, with leaks seemingly placing the game as a direct sequel to the first Black Ops. Captain Frank Woods will supposedly also make a return as a pre-order bonus, although it’s unclear if he’ll play a part in Black Ops Cold War‘s campaign. Hopefully, a reveal that doesn’t center around the game’s multiplayer will give the title’s exciting new setting a bigger spotlight and clue players into exactly what the tone of the sequel will be.
Call of Duty: Blacks Ops Cold War has already had a big impact on the world of gaming in its short time in the public eye, with China even banning the game’s debut teaser for showing footage of the Tiananmen Square protests. The event has been heavily censored by the country’s government, meaning the game’s debut trailer was immediately taken down. Evidently, Cold War’s more serious tone is already beginning to turn some heads, so it’ll be interesting to the game in action when it’s unveiled tomorrow.
