The reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has managed to please the majority of fans, and its updates have refined its gameplay while addressing criticism. A recent update in Modern Warfare gives players a tactical advantage, although it seems that many players have overlooked the feature. After winning the Call of Duty League Championship, James “Clayster” Eubanks asked fellow players whether they knew how to lock doors, but it seems that many have been unaware of the mechanic.
Many techniques can give players an advantage in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare but the ability to lock doors allows players to fortify the area. Interestingly this technique can also be used in the Warzone game mode and many will want to be able to lock themselves in small areas to gain an advantage in small areas. It is unclear whether the locking system is deliberate but many players will want to use it to help them protect themselves when they are in heavily populated areas.

While it seems that champion James “Clayster” Eubanks was one of the few players to know about the technique it is now common information. Players simply need to close a door by walking into it rather than pressing an action button. Once they have done this, they just need to sit on the other side of the door and players will not be able to push past. Interestingly, it can also give Call of Duty players blocking the door a sight to take shots at opponents.
Former pro player John Boble showed off his experience with the technique and it showed that as he looks through the door, players still can’t push their way in. However, players who want to utilize this technique should be cautious of opponents throwing grenades, to clear the doorway. At the moment this appears to be the most popular way to get around the locked doors technique. It will be interesting to see if Infinity Ward implements changes in Modern Warfare to stop this strategy but many will enjoy this added element which gives them a tactical advantage.
Players are still tweaking their Modern Warfare tactics to give them an advantage over opponents and this technique will likely be factored into the gameplay of many in the future. This new method of locking doors will add to the strategies that players use, although fans will likely find a way to counter the tactic with more than just grenades in the future.
