Call Of Duty: Warzone Adds Know Your History Playlist | Game Rant

At exactly 10:30 AM PST, the Call of Duty: Warzone lobby received a very minor update, adding in a brand new playlist designed to launch players into the promotional lobby for the Call of Duty: Cold War trailer.

Fans have been counting down the time to this event, as Activision promised a full Cold War to reveal through Warzone. Although fans were not sure what this would mean, players still flooded into the queue awaiting whatever lay beyond.

The update cleared all playlists from the Warzone lobby, replacing it with a singular ominous “Know Your History” playlist. This playlist acts as an invitation for fans to enter into the prescheduled Warzone event, which holds the official Call of Duty: Cold War trailer. Fans spawned into the world to find a pre-game lobby, as per usual, along with screen glitches similar to what appears in most games. After the pre-game lobby, players are launched into what seems like a standard Warzone match without the zone. Instead, there is a set of Freedom Quest objectives and an in-game timer ticking down to an unknown result.

This game mode is supposed to only persist for a limited time, allowing fans access to normal Warzone content shortly after the event. As of now, the Playlist does not appear in Warzone, making it a missed opportunity for those who did not catch it during the event window. There were promotional items available during the event that will presumably be unavailable to fans after the event window.

It is an interesting concept for Activision to run in-game events using alternate playlists. Fans only wish that the event had run longer while still providing access to the core game modes. Especially for any fans that felt inconvenienced when the lobby was taken over, due to a large segment of the game’s community being unaware of the event itself.

This event sets unique precedence on how Activision can use Warzone in the future. Specific lobbies with promotional tools are an innovative way of bringing in the game community to interact with promotional content, provided they don’t lock away the main content in the meantime. The one downfall of this entire event was the lobbies themselves struggling to handle the game’s population surge as fans flooded to for the first look at Call of Duty: Cold War.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
