Call of Duty: Warzone PS5, Xbox Series X Version Could Be Coming Sooner Than Expected

Call of Duty fans have been playing Warzone since it released last year, but gamers on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S may see an upgrade to the battle royale game soon.

A Twitter user known as BreadisModding recently pointed out that the URL for an upcoming Call of Duty blog post mentions the next-gen launch of Warzone. Call of Duty fans aren't able to visit this URL yet, but it has been confirmed as the official Warzone Season 5 URL. This means that PS5 and Xbox Series X/S fans of Warzone can expect to hear more between now and August 12.

Another Twitter user known as TheGhostofHope, who has gotten other things correct in the past, has corroborated BreadisModding's information. The URL refers to Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 and its next-gen update, suggesting the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version will release soon. Season 5 begins on August 12, bringing with it tons of additional changes to Warzone, including this potential next-gen update.

Call of Duty players who visit the locked URL will be taken to an official Raven Software error page. Once the blog is published, this URL will be unlocked and Call of Duty fans will have a better idea of what to expect from Season 5. Although Call of Duty fans may not have expected a next-gen update with Warzone Season 5, it could be a pleasant surprise for players on the next-gen consoles.

Raven Software has previously confirmed that it's working on a next-gen update for Call of Duty: Warzone and it may finally release with Season 5. Warzone players on PC have already been greeted by an assortment of visual updates, including the addition of DLSS. The next-gen consoles recently launched and are slowly getting next-gen updates to games on PS4 and Xbox One, with Warzone potentially being the next to be upgraded.

BreadisModding has suggested that beyond this next-gen update being extremely likely, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans may also be improved with a next-gen upgrade as well. In addition to improved visuals and FPS, Call of Duty: Warzone may finally get an FOV slider with the next-gen update. BreadisModding and TheGhostofHope have confirmed that the only reason they were able to unveil the next-gen update is from the Call of Duty blog URL.

The patch note URL itself details the addition of a next-gen upgrade as part of the Warzone Season 5 update. Raven Software hasn't confirmed or denied this information, but Call of Duty fans don't have long to wait for the new season. Although this URL is an official Raven Software one, it's best to take it with a grain of salt until the patch notes are officially published.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available right now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
