CallMeCarson Runs Into Awkward Pokemon Dialogue During Twitch Return Stream

Some Twitch streamers and YouTubers seem to be able to skate away from any and all allegations and controversies, no matter how serious, while others appear to be constantly plagued by reminders of their past mistakes. Controversial streamer Carson King, known to his followers as CallMeCarson, recently made his return to Twitch – and immediately encountered some very ironic text in a game.

The game CallMeCarson chose to stream for his return to Twitch was Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, which begins with a personality quiz to decide which Pokemon the player will be transformed into. CallMeCarson's answers led to the Sassy nature, which was initially described as a lone wolf type that others, especially older people, may find difficult to get along with. That much may not seem particularly shocking or hard-hitting, but the next part had CallMeCarson groan, stop talking, and bury his face in his palm.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky went on to state that people younger than the streamer would "tend to really admire" him. While this may appear to be a harmless statement at first, CallMeCarson left Twitch and went on an eight-month-long hiatus after allegations of CallMeCarson grooming underage fans arose. Being confronted by this borderline accusatory statement on his return makes his sudden silence in the stream easier to understand.

After several seconds of silence from the streamer, the game's text advanced enough to inform him that he would be playing as a popular dog-like Pokemon named Riolu. CallMeCarson opted to ignore the elephant in the room and simply embrace his assigned Pokemon, which may have been the safest choice he had available. During his period of silence, the chat was flooded with distressed or shocked emoticons and posters repeating statements like "oh no," so it's clear that he wasn't the only one who felt uncomfortable with the dialogue.

CallMeCarson isn't the first streamer to take a break from Twitch for personal reasons, though in his case the issues faced are a bit more serious than simple burnout. Whatever the case, it appears that his fans are glad to have him back on the platform, even if things can still be a bit awkward. Fortunately, CallMeCarson appears to have genuinely learned from his past mistakes and seems to have taken this unexpected reminder in good humor. The past can't be undone, but Twitch streamers can still try to move forward.
