Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend Gets a New Enhancements Trailer and Release Date

Final Fantasy Legends is one of the more overlooked anthologies of the Final Fantasy franchise, being a collection of games that originally released on the original Game Boy handheld system. These include Final Fantasy Legend, Final Fantasy Legend 2, and Final Fantasy Legend 3, which released between 1989-1991. Last year, this collection was released on the Switch, which were met with modest reviews. An enhanced port of this collection will be released later this year for mobile devices and Steam.

This anthology of games were a blend of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, which led to very unique games. Much like how the original Final Fantasy games were inspired by Dungeons and Dragons, these were inspired by Gamma World. Some of the new features that were included in Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend when it first released on Switch was a high-speed mode, which allowed players to breeze through some of the slower parts of the game, different screen view options, and customizable backgrounds. These enhanced ports look to include some new features that are catered for the mobile and Steam platforms.

The first of which is an adjustable button layout and control scheme exclusive for the mobile version. The player has complete control over where they could place the buttons, allowing for complete control over their playstyle, with the trailer saying it could be useful for one-handed play. This is emphasized with a Game Boy handheld like screen, with backgrounds based on different aspects of Final Fantasy Legends, along with different ways the player can map the buttons to specific positions. The buttons are draggable and droppable, with even a button for the high-speed mode being one that could be placed and adjusted to the player's liking.

The Steam version on the other hand will have a couple of different, but incredibly cool features. The first of which is that the game will support 4K resolution. Features from the Switch release such as custom backgrounds, high-speed mode, and customizable screen sizes will be retained for this release. The game will also include the Japanese version of the Collection's release, which can be played by changing between English to Japanese in the language options.

There's a lot of enjoy about this new collection, being the original titles that would later be spin-off into the SaGa series, dropping the Final Fantasy branding. These sequels and spin-offs of SaGa would have their own set of re-releases, one of the most recent being the launch of SaGa Frontier earlier this year. There will be more remasters of these classic games later down the line too.

Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend will be releasing on mobile September 22, 2021 with its Steam version coming October 21, 2021.
