Cyberpunk 2077 Developers Recently Clocked 100-Hour Week – Rumor

CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 has faced another delay, this time to December as the developer works on additional polish. However, given reports of the company’s mandatory crunch, how has this delay affected current employees? According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who reported on the company’s shift to mandatory crunch before November, not much has changed.

Over on Twitter, Schreier said that, “Cyberpunk 2077 getting a three-week delay is unusual but probably won’t change much for the developers, many of whom were going to be crunching into December anyway for a post-launch patch. But I sure do hope reality is becoming clearer to those who tried to deny it.”

A developer from CD Projekt RED told Schreier recently that they had “just clocked a 100-hour week. Another (former) dev just told me they saw some of their friends there and they looked ‘physically ill.’ So kindly gtfo with the ‘but but but I work long hours too’ responses.” The news is especially damning considering the developer’s stance last year to “treat developers with respect.” Studio head Adam Badowski did state before this delay that employees were being compensated for every additional hour while 10 percent of revenue generated would also be split directly among the team.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently slated to release on December 10th for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Google Stadia. Work is still going on for the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions, though a release date for those is still unknown. The RPG will still be playable on those consoles when it launches and offer better performance so stay tuned for more details on that front in the coming months.
