Although it's had its ups and downs in terms of bugs and glitches, Cyberpunk 2077 is finally starting to make good on many of the promises that CD Projekt Red made before the game's release. While there's still a ways to go until the game gets there entirely, some things including the plant physics already look surprisingly realistic.
Posted to the sub-Reddit r/CyberpunkGame, user u/M3X25 shared a video of themself messing around with the plants in the game. Surprisingly, each different plant that M3X25 shot at reacted differently and swayed realistically back and forth in the wind following each impact, showcasing a level of detail that's finally starting to come to the game.

While this might not seem like that big of a deal, it's important to remember what sort of state Cyberpunk 2077 was in when it was first released. The game was essentially unfinished in many different areas, so the fact that time has been put into making its plant physics work realistically says something about how far the game's continued development has come following its release. Although the smaller plants weren't usually featured in the many glitch and bug compilations on YouTube, they definitely weren't this polished when the game initially launched.

This isn't to say that every aspect of the game is perfect just yet, far from it in some cases. However, Cyberpunk's recent 1.3 update fixed a lot of different issues and even brought the first batch of free DLC to the game. Some fans aren't too happy about the DLC as it only adds a small handful of new cosmetic items and a vehicle to the game, but it seems as if there's still plenty of substantial narrative DLC coming at some point down the line.
It's likely that many people either returning to Cyberpunk 2077 or playing it for the first time following the 1.3 patch won't pay much mind to the greatly improved plant physics as they're nothing more than background set dressing. That said, having the plants react in a realistic way puts the game one step closer to being the fully immersive experience that the game was promised to be. Even if someone plays through the game and never notices the plants, they were still there adding to the immersion of the experience as they and many other aspects of Cyberpunk 2077 work better now than ever before.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
