Dark Souls 2 contains some of the toughest encounters in the franchise. Fume Knight, Black Gulch, and the DLC areas are tough as nails to beat on your first attempt. Fortunately, Dark Souls 2 has plenty of avenues for upgrading your character, the most notable being weapon upgrades.

Each of Dark Souls 2's weapons can be upgraded with some form of Titanite. Some of the game's rarer weapons require Twinkling Titniate, one of the game's less common resources. In this guide, we'll give an overview of what Twinkling Titanite does, every source of Twinkling Titanite, and recommend some farming strategies to obtain as much of this resource in as little time as possible.

What Is Twinking Titanite Used For?

Twinkling Titanite is a rarer variant of the Titanite resource that's required to upgrade Dark Souls 2's rarer items. Items that can be upgraded with Twinkling Titanite can only be upgraded to +5 instead of the +10 normal Titanite allows.

Upgrading certain weapons and armor requires the following amount of Twinkling Titanite:

Weapon Cost Armor Cost
+1 x1 Twinkling Titanite x1 Twinkling Titanite
+2 x2 Twinkling Titanite x1 Twinkling Titanite
+3 x3 Twinkling Titanite x2 Twinkling Titanite
+4 x4 Twinkling Titanite x2 Twinkling Titanite
+5 x5 Twinkling Titanite x3 Twinkling Titanite

In total, it costs 15 Twinkling Titanite to upgrade a weapon fully and 9 Twinkling Titanite to fully upgrade an armor piece.

How To Obtain Twinkling Titanite

Like most resources in Dark Souls 2, Twinkling Titanite can be obtained from vendors, loot found in the world, and as a rare drop from certain enemies.

Twinkling Titanite Merchants

You can purchase Twinkling Titanite from the following merchants:

Merchant Cost Titanite Amount
Stone Trader Chloanne 15,000 Souls x3
Dyna & Tilo (Bird Nest) x1 Smooth & Silky Stone (Small or normal) Infinite

Stone Trader Chloanne—a Majula vendor—will sell Twinkling Titanite once you've obtained the King's Ring. Dyna & Tilo can be found at Things Betwixt. The bird duo won't always give you a Twinkling Titanite for a Silky Stone; it's RNG.

Twinkling Titanite Locations

There are quite a few locations that house at least one piece of Twinkling Titanite. If you don't want to farm but need a large sum of Twinkling Titanite, explore Brume Tower.

Location Titanite Amount
Brume Tower x7
Brightstone Cove Tseldora x1
Doors of Pharros x1
Dragon Shrine x1
Dragon's Sanctum x8
Earthen Peak x1
Forest of Fallen Giants (Memory) x2
The Gutter x1
Iron Keep x1
Lost Bastille x1
Shaded Ruins x1
Shrine of Amana x2
Shulva – Sanctum City x3

Enemies That Drop Twinkling Titanite

Most of the enemies that drop Twinkling Titanite are found in the Shrine of Amana and Frozen Eleum Loyce. Crystal Lizards, an enemy type found throughout Dark Souls 2, also have a chance of dropping Twinkling Titanite.

Enemy Location
Archdrake Pilgrim Shrine of Amana
Amana Priestess Shrine of Amana
Crystal Lizard Anywhere
Poison Statue Cluster Shulva – Sanctum City
The Pursuer Lost Bastille and Things Betwixt
Rampart Golem Frozen Eleum Loyce

Keep in mind that the Pursuer enemies in Lost Bastille and Things Betwixt don't respawn when slain. You'll need to use a Bonfire Ascetic or alter your NG cycle to farm them. The same goes for Crystal Lizards.

Twinkling Titanite Farm

There are multiple Twinkling Titanite farms you can use to obtain a large sum of this resource without much hassle. Even if you haven't looted every Twinkling Titanite location in your playthrough, you might want to use these farming strategies anyway to save some time.

Twinkling Titanite Farm #1: Dragon Aerie

One of the best Twinkling Titanite farms in Dark Souls 2 is the crystal lizard and dragon farm in Dragon Aerie. Make your way to the Dragon Aerie bonfire and proceed through the level. Kill all of the Crystal Lizards in the region, making a detour to kill each dragon as you do this. Loop back to the bonfire when you're done, burn a Bonfire Ascetic, and repeat as needed. This farm is great for obtaining upgrade materials in general, not just Twinkling Titanite. Bring a lightning weapon or miracles to make the dragons easier to kill.

Twinkling Titanite Farm #2: Shrine of Amana

If you don't have any Bonfire Ascetics, consider farming the Archdrake Priests and Amana Priestesses at the Shrine of Amana instead. Increase your item discovery as much as possible before doing this. You can either farm the lone Archdrake under the first bonfire or farm the enemies at later bonfires. It's up to you.

When you've cleared the area of enemies, head back to the bonfire and reset the zone. Rinse and repeat. Archdrakes and priestesses both have a fairly high drop chance, so this farm shouldn't take up too much of your time.

Twinkling Titanite Farm #3: Shulva Hidden Chest Farm

Finally, if you have a ton of Bonfire Ascetics to burn, you won't find a better farm than Shulva's hidden chest. Travel to the Tower of Prayer bonfire. Make your way to the Dragon's Sanctum area, running past the two spear-wielding enemies that guard the bridge. You want to navigate to the hidden room with three Twinkling Titanites in a chest. Look for a panel on one of the walls you can shoot to reveal the hidden area. If you find a set of stairs rigged with spike tracks, you're in the right place.

Grab the Twinkling Titanite, head back to the bonfire, then use a Bonfire Ascetic to reset the area. This will reset the chest, allowing you to convert a Bonfire Ascetic into three Twinkling Titanites each run.
