Death Stranding Director’s Cut Releasing Final "Handmade" Trailer Next Week

Hideo Kojima seems to be hinting at one last surprise for the upcoming Death Stranding Director's Cut. Last week's Gamescom extended gameplay trailer seemed to show us everything new coming in the definitive version of Kojima's masterpiece, including new combat-focused gameplay, new gadgets like a buddy robot and jetpack, and replayable boss fights, but today Kojima announced Death Stranding Director's Cut will receive a "final trailer" next Wednesday.

"The release date of Death Stranding Director's Cut final trailer has been set," Kojima wrote on Twitter this morning. "The handmade trailer (recorded in PS5 wide mode) will be released on September 8 at 8 AM/BST, 12 AM/PST on the official KJP YouTube channel. Please watch it with a sound environment if possible."

That “sound environment” might be referring to the PS5’s 3D audio features that might be coming to the Director’s Cut. We know that the game will certainly feature enhanced graphics and loading times as a result of the PS5’s better hardware, but we haven’t heard much about what might be going on with Death Stranding’s sound.

As for what else we might expect, Kojima left his post intentionally vague. Given we’ve seen new gameplay elements, we might be treated to some of the Director’s Cut touted new story elements, but we’ll have to wait until next Wednesday to find out.

Keep in mind that if you're lucky enough to actually have a PS5, the Director's Cut is now a free upgrade. You'll need to shell out $10 to get all the PS5 enhancements, but at least you'll be able to transfer over your old PS4 save file. Death Stranding Director's Cut arrives on September 24.

In other Kojima Productions news, we almost didn't have a Death Stranding game at all. Kojima revealed yesterday that one of his many ideas was to have Mads Mikkelsen star in a new game titled "Mads Max." Kojima didn't say it would be a post-apocalyptic automotive action game, but you can read between the lines.
