Deep Rock Galactic update 1.02 live on PS4 and PS5

Developer Ghost Ship Games has deployed a new post launch patch for Deep Rock Galactic. Update 1.02 is now live on PS4 and PS5, with a small list of changes after reports of issues from the player community.

As with most online multiplayer games, Deep Rock Galactic has witnessed a number of crashes and server woes. It’s worth noting that, in our experience with the PlayStation version, we’ve yet to stumble upon such issues.

Ghost Ship Games has released version 1.02 which is now available to download and install on PS4 and PS5. According to the devs, it makes the following changes:

– Crash caused by impatient dwarves spamming X on the start screen
– Serverlist pretending every game is in the US
– US players not getting the sign-on bonus from Starter/Ultimate DLC

Deep Rock Galactic has finally arrived on PlayStation after previously launching on both PC and Xbox systems. It is currently one of the three games available to download this month as part of Sony’s PlayStation Plus line-up. It is joined by Dirt 5 and Persona 5 Strikers.

The PlayStation version of this space dwarf co-op shooter has some extra bells and whistles compared to the PC and Xbox versions currently available. On PS5, it has been confirmed that the DualSense’s touchpad can be used to control the Terrain Scanner tool. Meanwhile, the gamepad’s built-in speakers will bark orders at players from Mission Control.

We were thoroughly impressed with the game when it launched back in mid 2020, saying:

“Ooh, aah, that’s how it always starts, then later there’s running and screaming. Deep Rock Galactic can be deceptively easy going at times, right up until the swarms of bugs come crawling out of the inky darkness to besiege you and your friends. Who knew space dwarf mining could be so fun?”

Of course, since then the game has gone on to receive numerous updates. Very recently, new weapons and a new game mode were added to Deep Rock Galactic alongside Ghost Ship’s take on the popular battle pass system.
