Demon Slayer Game Will Add Playable Demons to the Roster in Post-Launch Update

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles is already shaping up to be the ultimate Demon Slayer video game, offering players the opportunity to hop into some of the anime's most iconic battles and experience them firsthand. While the adaptation's main attraction will be a campaign that re-tells the show's events through heated battles, it will also feature a multiplayer versus mode, and developer CyberConnect2 has just revealed there's already some exciting post-launch content slated for it.

According to a new post on the official Hinokami Chronicles Twitter account, the 1v1 mode will be getting playable demon characters via free DLC set to release after the game's debut. There's no official word on which of Demon Slayer's antagonists will be made playable in the title, but CyberConnect2 has teased that it will be offering further details at a later date.

The dev team has a lot of choice when it comes to selecting new fighters for Versus mode, with the first season of Demon Slayer seeing protagonist Tanjiro encounter various threats, including Kyogai the drum demon, the spider family, and his arch-nemesis, Muzan Kibutsuji. It'll be interesting to see which members of the show's stacked rogues gallery make the cut.

They'll be joining an already stacked roster of playable heroes available at The Hinokami Chronicles' release, including series regulars such as Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu, as well as more powerful demon slayers such as Shinobu Koucho, Giyu Tomioka, and Sakonji Urokodaki. Fans of the show's incredibly successful movie adaptation, Mugen Train, can even take control of Kyojuro Rengoku, who played a big part in the film and its climactic final showdown. It seems Versus mode will be a big part of The Hinokami Chronicles' experience, offering players the chance to see their favorite Demon Slayer characters clash in battle.

As for Adventure Mode, it looks to be mostly centered around Tanjiro's quest to avenge his family throughout the first season of the show. Early trailers have already highlighted plenty of moments fans will be familiar with, including his battle with the Hand Demon during the Final Selection arc, his acclaimed showdown with Rui in the Natagumo Mountain arc, and his and Nezuko's brawl with Susamaru and Yahaba in the Asakusa arc. The adventure is sure to be filled with intense boss fights as well as recreations of some of the show's most crucial story beats.

Demon Slayer: Kimestu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles is slated to release on October 15 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
