Denuvo Has Been Removed From Marvel’s Avengers

After almost a year after its release, Marvel's Avengers has finally dropped Denuvo from the PC version of the game. Patch 2.0.2 is already available across all platforms, bringing a few new features and fixes to the title.

Marvel's Avengers was released on September 4 last year with Denuvo DRM protection running in the background ever since. The new patch from the team apparently has removed the anti-piracy tech from the game, as indicated by SteamDB where a recent update notes the modified executable.

Avengers kept its Denuvo subscription for almost a year, unlike many other PC games that often drop the DRM protection after two or three months, only to secure the early sales period. Square Enix usually tends to insist on using the Anti-Tamper software with all of its games at launch before removing it sometime later.

While Denuvo software is known among players for causing reduced performance, it is currently unknown how the running of Marvel's Avengers changes after the latest update. Some sources indicate that there are faster loading times now than before, at least when launching the game.

Aside from removing Denuvo from Marvel's Avengers, the recent patch 2.0.2 (which weighs in at 1.8GB) also brings some other notable changes to the superhero action-brawler. The team added two new mission chains focused on multiplayer, as well as new consumables type called Fragment Extractors, that temporarily increase the number of fragments you can obtain during missions. You can find the full patch notes on the official site.

Marvel's Avengers has just recently received its biggest post-launch update yet called War for Wakanda. The expansion brings Black Panther with a range of unique abilities and a new campaign set in the brand-new biome of Wakanda. Patch 2.0.2 has also added Black Panther's MCU outfit to the Marketplace.

There are also some hints for more upcoming heroes in the expansion, including references to Loki, Scarlet Witch, and Doctor Strange. For now, the team at Crystal Dynamics did not officially announce any of these characters to appear in the game. It is believed that Spider-Man will join the roster of heroes soon, however, Wall-Crawler will be available only across PlayStation platforms, which is somewhat of a letdown for other fans.
