Destiny 2 Glitch Would Make a Lot of Sense as a ‘New Weapon Type’

Destiny 2 is one of those games that, probably because of how massive it is and how many different elements there are, is always fertile ground for players who like to go about and find new glitches to have fun with. As a matter of fact, Destiny 2 has a long history with glitches that turned iconic to the point that Bungie made them into one-time events of sorts. An example of this is when the Prometheus Lens Exotic trace rifle dealt too much damage and Bungie made it available from Xur, thus starting the infamous "laser tag weekend." A YouTuber by the name of JB3 broke the game once again, and this time the outcome was the so-called Stasis scythe – what the content creator refers to as a "new weapon type."

Of course, the weapon is not really in the game nor planned to be in there, at least from what is officially known about Stasis weapons, which will be coming to the Kinetic slot as the last Destiny 2 TWAB announced. Instead, what JB3 found is another funny glitch that occurs when spamming the Hunter's Stasis Super, called Silence and Squall, for a very long time. This was done inside Eris' portal on the Moon while having a sword equipped on the character. According to the YouTuber, casting Silence and Squall for a long enough time will eventually make the players' swords disappear, and using the Super for even longer will eventually make the Stasis scythe take the sword's place in regular gameplay, emotes, and when riding a sparrow.

How Stasis Swords and Other Weapons Could Work in Destiny 2

The Stasis scythe that JB3 discovered does not have any special ability and will act just like the sword it replaced. Still, it is basically a sort of free cosmetic item that purely changes what the original weapon looks like. However, this discovery paired with the fact that Stasis weapons already exist and more will be added in just two days makes a case for more Stasis weapons in the Power slot than just the Exotic heavy grenade launcher Salvation's Grip. A Stasis sword could easily be the scythe that Hunters throw with the Silence and Squall Super, or maybe it could be a bigger blade with a design that fits all three classes in the game.

Of course, there are several weapon archetypes that could receive the Stasis treatment. For example, a caster sword could launch Stasis projectiles that look like the Hunter's Withering Blades, or maybe they could straight-up shoot a projectile that turns into a Stasis crystal on impact with terrain. This wouldn't be too different from what Salvation's Grip does, but it could have the potential of being a much better choice for the Power slot – especially with the Exotic grenade launcher doing little to no damage to enemies and mostly being used by sliding Behemoths or Shatterdiving Revenants.

However, there are other options as well. A Stasis sword could also function similarly to Falling Guillotine, with the exception of maybe dealing less damage but having a tool for slowing enemies down or freezing them in an area. Another option could be having a sword like the Titan's exclusive Crown-Splitter, which generates a sort of explosive slam when using its heavy attack, with the Stasis sword creating a series of Stasis crystals in its wake instead. It could even be its own thing and be thrown like a boomerang with the heavy attack, damaging and slowing enemies as it travels.

Overall, there are endless possibilities because of how many different weapon types there are in Destiny 2. Still, Bungie should consider the possibility of having a unique weapon like the Stasis scythe that JB3 found, as it would probably be quite simple to implement in the game since the model is already there.

Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
