Destiny 2: Season Of The Lost Has Three Totally Broken Builds

Season of the Lost has been here for all of three days and it has completely broken Destiny 2. Not in a bad way–the servers are still running, and although there is the usual assortment of bugs that arrive with every new season, none of them are too bad.

No, what’s broken about the current season is the fact that there are three builds that are letting Guardians output utterly broken damage values.

We’ll start with middle-tree Sunbreaker Titan. As described ahead of Season of the Lost, Bungie buffed the melee ability of middle-tree Sunbreaker so that the Throwing hammer sticks around for 10 seconds instead of six and it deals 50% more damage than previous seasons. That’s a pretty big damage buff, but along with letting the hammer stick around longer, it also seems to have been given another benefit.

Throwing Hammers now also rebound. Once they hit something, they bounce back. If they hit the player character, for example, they can bounce back and hit the enemy again. And if the player is standing right next to a big enemy, the hammer can rebound multiple times until you get… this:

Combine Throwing Hammer with stacks from Worm God’s Caress, a One-Two Punch Shotgun, and the Tractor Cannon, and middle-tree Sunbreakers can now one-shot raid bosses.

That's just our first broken build. Our second is involves an old pair of Hunter pants that nobody used up until Season of the Lost. Lucky Pants recently got buffed to not just make Hand Cannons snappier and reload automagically while stowed, but now they also give a stacking damage buff on precision hits. Normally on slow-firing Hand Cannons, this damage buff isn't particularly impressive, but when combined with the quick-firing Last Word, it can let a solo Hunter with good aim finish off boss enemies in two clips.

This is fine…. (lucky pants + last word ) from

Reddit user GraesynFaust did the math and found that Lucky Pants + The Last Word can put up damage numbers that are on par with most Power weapons and can even rival the DPS of Deathbringer, perhaps the most potent Rocket Launcher in the game at current.

But easily the most broken new Exotic to ever arrive in Destiny 2 is the new Radiant Dance Machines. These new Exotic pants allow Hunters to dodge six times so long as they're within 14 meters of an enemy. When combined with the Dynamo and Distribution mods–two mods that provide Super energy every time you use your class ability–and a 100 Intellect build, Hunters can get half their Super energy in a single dodge chain.

Even if you don’t want to use Dynamo and Distribution for 20-second Supers, the fact that you can dodge six times in a row means you can combine Radiant Dance Machines with Marksman’s Dodge to fire six Rockets in quick succession or combine with Gambler’s Dodge to throw six Weighted Knives.

Bungie might allow Lucky Pants to survive without a nerf considering how hard it is to land 16 headshots in a row with The Last Word, but I wouldn’t expect Radiant Dance Machines or Throwing Hammers to last much longer than a week before Bungie steps in. Enjoy these broken strategies while you can, Guardians.
