Destiny 2: The Best Rolls For The New Season Of The Lost Weapons

It's a new season in Destiny 2! Season of the Lost brings a host of changes to Exotics, subclass abilities, weapons archetypes, and more. It also brings over thirty new guns to grind, and we've got the best perks for you to be on the lookout for. So let’s hop right in and see what Season of the Lost has brought us.

Scathelocke

The EDZ's Auto Rifle reborn. Adaptive Auto Rifles aren't exactly meta right now, but Scathelocke's timeless look and updated perks should make it appealing for those looking for a good all-around Kinetic rifle. Subsistence will be the dominant perk for PvE, while Surplus and Tunnel Vision will be the bomb for PvP.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Subsistence, Rampage

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Accuruized Rounds, Surplus, Multikill Clip

Vulpecula

Our first new Legendary Stasis weapon, Vulpecula comes with some interesting new perks to consider. Ensemble is like Firing Line but provides handling and reload speed instead of damage, while Shoot to Loot lets you shoot an ammo brick to reload all equipped weapons from reserves. This perk is less useful now that primary ammo is gone, but there's still usually a special block to peg.

Headstone provides you with a Stasis crystal at the victim's location after a precision kill, which can synergize with certain Stasis builds nicely, but the right column perk for me is the new Harmony perk: final blows with other weapons improve the Harmony weapon's damage and performance after you swap to it. So, get a kill with an energy sniper or shotgun, swap to Vulpecula, and enjoy a damage buff.

But what Vulpecula really has going for it is that the opening quest will just give you a god roll.

Best PvE Roll: Hammer Forged Rifling, Tactical Mag, Shoot to Loot, Harmony

Best PvP Roll: Hammer Forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Tunnel Vision, Explosive Payload

Legal Action II

Legal Action II doesn't come with any new perks, but what it does have are great for both PvE And PvP game modes. For PvE, you've got Surplus, Feeding Frenzy, Rampage, and Frenzy. For PvP, there's Killing Wind, Moving Target, Heating Up, and Tresh. High-Impact Pulses are still great weapons, so grab this new world drop where you can.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Surplus/Feeding Frenzy, Frenzy/Rampage

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Killing Wind, Thresh

Servant Leader

Do not be fooled–although Servant Leader might look like Distant Relations, this new Gambit playlist Scout Rifle is actually a Rapid-Fire frame, making it closer to the tragically sunset Randy's Throwing Knife. Like other playlist weapons, Servant Leader has more perks than you can effectively grind for, making acquisition more a matter of luck than persistence. There are some pretty sweet perk combos in Servant Leader, though, so I hope that luck is on your side.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Shoot to Loot, Harmony

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Tunnel Vision, Kill Clip

Fractethyst

What's this? A non-slug Precision Shotgun? And it can roll Slideshot and Opening Shot? Back before the sliding nerf, this combo might have made Fractethyst top-tier in the Crucible, but now its PvP placement isn't quite so sure. In PvE, Dual Loader and Trench Barrel is a potent combo, but Harmony can make this Shotgun an excellent way to delete problematic Major enemies.

Best PvE Roll: Rifled Barrel, Assault Mag, Dual Loader, Trench Barrel

Best PvP Roll: Rifled Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Slideshot, Opening Shot

Spoiler Alert

Another re-used Sidearm model, but don't let appearances fool you. Spoiler Alert has a lot more going for it than last season's Farewell, so if you still haven't got a Light Frame Sidearm, consider this one.

Surplus and Frenzy remains my favorite PvE combo, especially for Sidearms, but PvP players will likely enjoy Killing Wind and Swashbuckler a lot.

Best PvE Roll: Farpoint SAS, Light Mag, Surplus, Frenzy

Best PvP Roll: Tactic SAS, Ricochet Rounds, Killing Wind, Swashbuckler

Shepherd's Watch

It's hard for me to recommend Shepherd's Watch when Tranquility recently got its Firing Line perk back, has better overall stats, and is much more cheaply farmed thanks to the Lectern. Tranquility even has lower zoom, which will make it a lot easier to hit targets with.

If you insist on throwing away Legendary Shards at Rahool, then here's what you can roll for.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Outlaw, Firing Line

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, No Distractions, Snapshot Sights

Chrysura Melo

Our first High-Impact Auto Rifle in quite some time, Chrysura Melo comes with a number of fascinating options for fans of the archetype. Dragonfly or Frenzy would be best for ad-clear, but Harmony is very strong when paired with the right Special weapon. High-Impacts are less common in PvP than other rifles but are still quite viable for mid-to-long range engagements.

Best PvE Roll: Fluted Barrel, Tactical Mag, Outlaw, Dragonfly

Best PvP Roll: Fluted Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Dynamic Sway Reduction, Multi-Kill Clip

Sorrow's Verse

Our new Crucible playlist weapon, Sorrow's Verse suffers from the same immense perk pool as all the other playlist weapons, so don't expect to get a specific roll unless you only live in the Crucible for the next six months. Still, there are very few bad perks in Sorrow's Verse's pool, so you'll likely find something serviceable eventually.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Surplus, Frenzy

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Killing Wind, Multikill Clip

Wolftone Draw

Arsenic Bite has been available for almost a year, so it seems unlikely you're still in need of an Arc Bow, but if you are (or just prefer Precision Frame Bows to Light Frames), then Wolftone Draw is a very good option. Archer's Tempo and Impulse Amplifier are there, but so are Dragonfly, Frenzy, Cornered, and Harmony. You really can't go wrong on Wolftone Draw.

We'll also pay attention to Adagio to see if it lets Guardians one-tap in the Crucible.

Best PvE Roll: Polymer String, Helical Fletching, Archer's Tempo, Dragonfly

Best PvP Roll: Polymer String, Helical Fletching, Archer's Tempo, Adagio

Iota Draconis

Fusion Rifles got a buff in Season of the Lost, but High-Impact fusions got a charge time nerf that makes them a bit cumbersome to use. Kickstart and Cornered will be your two best perks to help alleviate that problem, but you're still going to have to relearn this archetype's timing in the Crucible.

Best PvE Roll: Fluted Barrel, Accelerated Coils, Surplus, Harmony

Best PvP Roll: Fluted Barrel, Particle Repeater, Under Pressure, Kickstart

Annual Skate

With poor aim assist and just worse stats overall, Annual Skate is unlikely to replace your Dire Promise as your Adaptive Kinetic Hand Cannon, but that doesn't mean it's all bad. Outlaw and Surplus make great reload perks, and Timed Payload is a devil in PvP. I'm more of a fan of Wellspring for PvE loadouts, but Dragonfly and Swashbuckler are great too.

Best PvE Roll: Steady Hand HCS, Tactical Mag, Surplus, Wellspring

Best PvP Roll: Fastdraw HCS, Accurized Rounds, Outlaw, Timed Payload

Contingency Plan

Another Rapid-Fire Scout Rifle, but this time with Arc damage. If you wanted a replacement for the Black Scorpion, this is it. Surplus, Subsistence, Frenzy, and Kill Clip are all great perks and will help you get the most out of this Scout Rifle.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Subsistence, Frenzy

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Tunnel Vision, Kill Clip

The Comedian

Our first new Nightfall weapon, The Comedian is an Aggressive Shotgun during an age where Aggressives have sort of fallen by the wayside. With too little range for PvE and sliding nerfed in the Crucible, Aggressive Shotguns feel like they don't hahve a place. Worse, the perks available for The Comedian aren't exactly the best in class. But like any good Comedian, this Shotgun can improvise.

Best PvE Roll: Rifled Barrel, Assault Mag, Ensemble, Trench Barrel

Best PvP Roll: Rifled Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Bottomless Grief, Vorpal

Canis Major

Rapid-Fire Grenade Launchers aren't really in a good place right now. Their DPS is too low to justify over a good Adaptive Frame like Blast Battue or Memory Interdict. But who knows? Maybe Rapid-Fire Frames will get a buff down the line and Canis Major will become a DPS meta weapon.

Best PvE Roll: Volatile Launch, Spike Grenades, Impulse Amplifier, Chain Reaction

Best PvP Roll: Volatile Launch, Proximity Grenades, Impulse Amplifier, Vorpal

The Hothead

Our second Nightfall weapon, The Hothead is here to convince you to put down your Subzero Salvo. Trouble is, as an Adaptive Frame Rocket Launcher, you'll be wasting a perk for Tracking Module where Subzero Salvo has one built-in. The only thing worth going for here is Explosive Light, but with The Ascendancy as this season's Ritual weapon having Explosive Light guaranteed (and also built-in tracking as a Precision Frame Rocket), there seems little reason to farm Nightfalls for a good Hothead.

Best PvE Roll: Volatile Launch, Impact Casing, Tracking Module, Explosive Light

Best PvP Roll: Volatile Launch, Black Powder, Tracking Module, Vorpal
