Destiny 2’s Season 15 Removes Primary Ammo And Adds Legendary Stasis Weapons

Primary Ammo Infinite Via Bungie

Yesterday's This Week At Bungie post was both full of expected changes and a few surprises. Anarchy was given the nerf we'd all been warned about, Vex Mythoclast was brought up from the dirt to where it can truly shine, and the promised buff was announced to Hand Cannons, Scout Rifles, and Machine Guns.

But the biggest surprise was Bungie's decision to completely remove Destiny 2's Primary ammo. All Primary weapons now have infinite ammo and never need to worry about running out. Primary weapons will still need to reload, but their reserves will be infinite.

Bungie has been hinting that this might be a future change, slowly altering perks and abilities that rely on reserve ammunition until there was basically nothing left for Primary ammo to effect. This change will certainly be welcome for Destiny 2's high-end content where running out of ammo can be a real concern, but it also means high ammo consumption weapons like Devil's Ruin become far more viable.

As promised, Scout Rifles and Hand Cannons are getting a 15% damage buff to minor enemies, while Machine Guns are getting a 20% damage buff across the board. Xenophage, however, is getting a 25% rate of fire nerf and won't receive the full 20% damage buff as other machine guns, resulting in an overall decrease in DPS.

Three seasons later, Destiny 2 will finally get Legendary Stasis weapons in Season 15. Power weapons with Stasis will still go in the Power slot, but all other Stasis weapons will instead go in the Kinetic slot just like Cryosthesia 77K. This is to avoid overcrowding the Energy slot and because Stasis weapons still don't have any intrinsic ability to destroy enemy shields.

They do, however, have Stasis perks. These perks will all involve freezing and slowing enemies, although Bungie didn't specifically say what they do just yet. They'll also be tuned so they're not too oppressive in Destiny 2's PvP mode–a hard lesson learned after Stasis spent half a year running wild in the Crucible.

There are way more changes coming in Season 15 to existing Exotics, including a huge nerf to Anarchy as well as a huge buff to Vex Mythoclast. Read all about it in yesterday’s TWAB here.
