Information:

Name: Destroy All Humans! 2020

Genre: Action-Adventure

Platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC

Developer: Black Forest Games

Publisher: THQ Nordic

Destroy All Humans! 2020 is one of the best nostalgia trips I have had in a while. The original game was one of my favorites on PS2. Playing as Crypto and messing around with Animals, Humans, or Destroying Buildings is the best thing about Destroy All Humans, in my opinion. Developers Black Forest Games have managed to capture the same feeling of the original Destroy All Humans while adding some new features, which I appreciated a lot. It’s not perfect, but it’s an entertaining game.

Now let’s talk about the bad stuff the mission design feels outdated since Destroy All Humans! 2020 is a faithful remake of the original Destroy All Humans! Game. Also, there aren’t any major frame rate issues usually, but you can notice the frame rate dropping a lot in cutscenes. The loading screens are pretty lengthy, and there are some texture pop-ups when you load the game; hopefully, developers will take advantage of next-generation hardware to fix these issues in their upcoming games or remakes.

So as I stated before, the game is entertaining, but it has some issues in terms of technical stuff and the mission design.

Graphically it’s a vast improvement all the character models look great, and the cutscenes are still funny one of my favorite moments of the Story was the part where Crypto takes the disguise of Mayor and addresses people the dialogue choice was some of the funniest stuff.

Let’s talk about the improvements Black Forest games have made to Destroy All Humans! 2020. One thing I immediately noticed was that you could jump while being in a disguise you couldn’t do that in the Original Destroy All Humans game they also added better animations to Crypto’s movement you can now do multiple things at once too, for example, you can shoot while picking up an item and throwing exploding cows at people in Destroy All Humans! 2020 is something else they have also added more abilities, an additional mission, and some significant features that make the gameplay way better than it was in the original.

I would recommend Destroy All Humans! 2020 to everyone, it’s the best remake published by THQ Nordic so far. I hope that Black Forest Games remake/remaster Destroy All Humans! 2 the same way they remastered/remade this game.

There aren’t many changes in Saucer Combat, but there are a lot of changes to Crypto’s weapons. They are more powerful. An*l Probe is still a great tool that I used a lot. Disintegrator is my favorite weapon in Destroy All Humans! But Ion Detonator is fantastic too.

Blowing stuff up and messing around with NPCs is very fun in Destroy All Humans! The Story is still as fun as it was back in the previous version I love how nearly everyone thinks that Crypto is a Communist Spy and not an Alien who’s trying to take over the Earth.

Another thing that Black Forest Games could have made better in Destroy All Humans! 2020 is the Saucer. It’s a bit hard to aim at your enemies in the Saucer. Also, the final boss fight is as challenging as it was in the original version, which is a great thing, at least for me since I love challenging games.

It took me nearly 14 hours to beat the game there are some challenges which you’ll have to do to get the platinum trophy for Destroy, All Humans!

Visuals in Destroy All Humans! 2020 is decent; they aren’t anything special. Still, they are a significant upgrade from the original version on PlayStation 2 hopefully the game sells enough, so they remake Destroy All Humans 2 like this too Black Forest Games have also added some new upgrades to Saucer and Crypto’s weapons to make you, even more, overpowered the boss fights are still enjoyable. Still, some times missions get repetitive when you have to do nothing but blast some waves of enemies.
As I said before, the game isn’t perfect, but it’s enjoyable since you are an overpowered “Little Green Man” I still hate how you never see the “Talking horse” they get on TV it would have been a fun easter egg.

The Verdict:

Destroy All Humans! 2020 is a faithful remake with many improvements but there could have been more improvements to certain parts of the game also the cutscenes have some frame rate drops it isn’t anything significant but it’s still a technical issue Destroying Buildings and throwing cows at soldiers is still as fun as it was in the original game Black Forest Games have managed to capture that exact same feeling from the original game which is a fantastic thing as it made me nostalgiac but it just doesn’t stop there they added many things that weren’t present in the original game like the ability to jump while you are using a disguise it was definitely one of the most significant improvements in my opinion since I got stuck in certain positions in the original game because my character would not jump while being in a disguise also the mission design feels very outdated but hey it’s a faithful remake maybe a little bit too faithful they should have improved the stealth and the mission design some missions feel precisely the same but as the gameplay loop is very fun and rarely gets repetitive it’s alright another thing which was bad were the Saucer controls it was hard to aim at enemies.

I would recommend you to play Destroy All Humans! 2020
