Capcom have updated their Platinum sellers list, providing updated sales figures for all of their games to date that have sold over a million copies, and have confirmed that last year’s Devil May Cry 5, the highly praised revival of the action franchise, has now sold 3.7 million units worldwide as of June 30, 2020.
At last count, as of the end of 2019, the game had sold 3.1 million units, so it’s clear that it is continuing to see solid and steady period even over a year after its launch. It’s not doing massive Resident Evil numbers, of course, but Devil May Cry has never been the sort of franchise to hit such figures. If Capcom do release the much-requested Special Edition for DMC5, they will undoubtedly see even higher sales for the game- so fingers crossed for that, I guess.
Speaking of Resident Evil, Capcom have also provided new sales figures for the survival horror series. Resident Evil 7 has sold 7.9 million units, becoming the highest-selling individual release in the franchise, though with 7.2 million units sold, Resident Evil 2 is hot on its trail. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 3 stands at 2.7 million units sold.
