Devolver Will Restore Fall Guys Keys That Were Accidentally Refunded

Legitmate Customers Caught Up in Anti-Reseller Action

Devolver Digital has issued an apology for legitimate customers who had their Fall Guys keys refunded after the publisher took action against a group of people reselling serial codes for its popular party battle royale.

Earlier today, a Reddit submission noted that several people got an e-mail from Devolver stating that they've received a refund for their purchase of Fall Guys. Here's what the e-mail reportedly said:

YOUR REFUND IS ON ITS WAY

You recently purchased a Steam key from one of the following websites:

Devolver Digital.com
FallGuys.com
Carrion.Game
The key you received, belongs to a batch exploited by scammers looking to turn a quick profit. As a result, we have disabled all keys in the batch and have issued refunds to all affected customers.

While this move was intended to halt key resellers, it also appears to have caught up quite a few legitimate customers as well such as the Reddit submitter.

"On launch day, at least in Argentina, the price of Fall Guys on Steam was [325 ARS] and around the same price [on the game's website]," the Reddit submission stated. "After one day the price doubled on Steam, which was weird. I couldn't grab the game soon enough on Steam, but I found out the price on their website was still the same so I bought the key there. One more day passed and we realized the game quadrupled [its] price on their website…"

The Redditor's claim about Argentinian prices appears true — a search of SteamDB shows that its lowest recorded price for the region had been ARS$324,99, much lower than its current price of ARS$ 720,00. That might sound like a lot of money, but ARS$ 720,00 is just under ten bucks in American currency.

Thankfully, these legit customers who got the game at a lower price aren't going to be left out in the cold — Devolver Digital is going to help them get their game back.

Devolver Digital's Statement on the Refunded Fall Guys Keys

We reached out to Devolver Digital on this matter and promptly received a reply which explained the situation and what it's doing to fix it.

Devolver Digital recently took action against scammers, refunding and revoking a series of Steam keys that were purchased via fallguys.com at a great discount by resellers and others who exploited regional prices in Argentina.

We made a mistake which resulted in the cancellation of legitimate keys purchased by our community and we apologise unreservedly for our unfortunate error.

Our team also recently adjusted the price in Argentina independent of this issue as the price Fall Guys launched at within the region was incorrect, leaving those who had their game revoked unable to re-purchase at its original price.

Those who have been affected may recover their copy of the game by sending an email to [email protected] with their details and email address used in the purchase.

Thank you for your support and apologies for the inconvenience. We promise to do better moving forward and we will take care of all of the community that was affected.

This was certainly an unfortunate mistake, but it looks like Devolver Digital is doing everything they can to set things right. Hopefully, the legit customers who lost their keys will get in touch with Devolver and get back to making their runs for the coveted crown. If you haven't snapped up a copy of this game for yourself, you can buy it on Steam starting at $19.99 or your regional equivalent.
